Michael Ashton
Two games now till the Super Eights. Keighley away and Oxford home. Hopefully we should finish 6th or 7th but if we win the last 2 it could be a lot higher. Easy game today. Hemel were scarcely over the half way line. Second half was a bit dull but the weather didn't help. It teamed down the whole game. Not surprising the gate was just over 700.
Rugby Shop John
MIchael I know that you are a stats man. Have you worked out that since and including our first competitive game against Rochdale in the IPro Cup on Sunday 21 Feb, today was only our 7th home game in 18 weeks! Following on from Chairman David Sharpe's comments in the Evening Mail this week, I believe all clubs need to get together to work out what is the best way forward. Perhaps some supporters who have stopped using this forum can start adding their views in an attempt to start a sensible debate. red square
Regarding the fixture list as raised by John Spoor. Please refer to the other posts over the years - heads, banging and brick wall are some of the words that come to mind when discussing getting a sensible fixture list with the RFL. They have put it in the "too hard to do" box and do not seem to realise (or care) about the damage it does to the game or individual clubs. Michael Ashton
Many thanks for the kind comments John & SJD. These were very much appreciated and I shall endeavour to put other messages when I feel I have something to contribute. I would love to see more activity on this Forum although I realize their is now a FaceBook page. As far as home and away games I completely agree about the lack of home games but this year a lot of the problem has been losing early in the I Pro Cup and Challenge Cup. I'm sure I am right in saying that the seasons draft fixtures are sent to Clubs confidentially. Surely it is at this time that RFL should be contacted with comments and suggested amendments. It was mentioned on Sky recently that Wigan had not had a home game for 5 weeks.
SJD
It was mentioned on Sky recently that Wigan had not had a home game for 5 weeks. Wigan have just laid a brand new pitch, maybe this was all pre-planned, and I'm fairly sure they're not short of a bob or two.
shawy13
Wigan have 5 weeks off every year so their landlords can work on the pitch
