Coincidence?

Since it was announced Kear was off to Wakefield next season, a few fans have heard that hes already been there more or less full time since then, and just doing the Batley job as often as he can.

Wakefield suddenly have picked up and won 3 on the spin and we seem to be on a steady decline in form - coincidence?

Maybe we should get the new coach in ASAP to work alongside Kear if this is the case?

What we're dealing with here is a complete lack of respect for the law

I'm sure JK takes the training sessions etc. and sniffs out our next opponents. The Batley job isn't full-time so if he's mooching around Wakefield I don't see it being a problem, just as long as we get back to winning ways

Had it from the off BTJ agree that there would seem to be an unfortunate connection. Due to the fact that we have interviewed, unless we're waiting in case of late applicants, then it makes no sense in not naming the successful candidate. This would have 2 benefits IMO; 1) players know who's in charge and who they want to sign for 2) the guy has chance to look at the squad, who he wants to keep or sign and to look at current coaching assistants. However, let's not get too upset yet. Yes losing to Oldham was disappointing but let's look at it another way; a mounting injury list has still given us some good wins and we still lie 2nd. If we were to go on a losing spree then that's a matter for concern. Let's see the response v London and the cup.

Irony!!

Batley wait for a few years to get a good balanced competitive team ....   they now have a good balanced and extremely competitive team ... then the coach de-stabelises it!!

Shot in the foot again!!   ....   Batley do appear to have a cultural self destruct mechanism!!

Whatever the rhetoric the coach can't be as singularly focussed as he would have been had the Wakey situation not arisen!

I suppose time will tell, but if it were me I would get the new guy in now and look forward rather than live in a vacuum of uncertainty!  ... or at least if JK is involved in selection , perhaps they could agree a phased handover.

'Cultural self destruct mechanism?'

Wow, that is some phrase you concocted there!

Are you seriously saying there is some in-built culture at the club which leads us to want our own demise? l tend to look at it as the inevitable result of a club on limited resources achieving well, which leads to those who contribute to that success being cherry picked by those with greater resources at their disposal.

It has always happened, where the best players or coaches are taken by the so called bigger fish. l happen to see it as remarkable that our last two coaches have been national coaches and that many of our players have gone onto play at a higher level!

Now if you want to look at clubs with a cultural self destruct mechanism, look at those clubs who live extravagantly beyond their means to the inevitable crash that this leads to.

In light of the two players signing extensions to their contracts would that suggest that they know who the new coach is and want in.

Cheers Roger.

Hypothetically wouldn't this be very difficult to do given that Batley proudly appoint all of their coaches without offering contracts, therefore any agreement would only stand until another offer is made. I don't think that you can hold anyone to a handshake.

Gentlemen I don't know how to delete my posts so I am now saying what I wrote about whether the players knew who the new coach is, I have now found out I am in the wrong as they don't, so please ignore my posting on this.

Cheers Roger.

Are you trying to have us believe that there is no contract between Batley and John Kear?

That JK is therefore coaching them for the shear love of the game, and for no benefit?

My understanding (as I'm not a lawyer, possibly a flawed understanding) is that a verbal contract is still a contract, binding in law. The handshake being confirmation that both parties agree with and have entered into that contract.

KN has always proudly said that Batley employ their coaches without a written contract hasn't he?

If you work in any form of commercial business SJS then good luck in trying to enforce that verbal contract that you have.   ;)
