  1. I thought that Halifax were little better than us. They probably caught us out with their quicker passing along the line and running onto the ball. Our style appears to be to pass at a slower pace, sometimes passing for the sake of it. We have individuals keen to force their way through, but nobody to back up that individual to force an error by our opponents.
  2. Dewsbury 6-36 Halifax Try scorer: Beckett MoM: Davies Att: 949 Unless March in these early stages with us, has managed to gel the team into some attacking ideas, I can’t see us scoring many tries until our players have had some time with him, hence my score prediction. It might take a bit of time, it’s a long season, so not too bothered at the moment.
  3. For what it’s worth, her is my prediction: 1 Wakefield 2 Toulouse 3 Sheffield 4 Featherstone 5 Bradford 6 York 7 Halifax 8 Batley 9 Swinton 10 Widnes 11 Doncaster 12 Barrow 13 Dewsbury 14 Whitehaven
  4. Centre was the position in which I mostly recall him playing; he was just as good at full back and stand off, but playing on the wing was probably his most notable playing spot.
  5. Do you mean motivation like Tony Fisher’s motivation?
  6. I remember him as a player for Leeds, perhaps mostly for his knack of avoiding being tackled and as coach with us. His bald head (hair around the sides and back) made him look old before his time, like Cliff Broadhead, who was a loose forward for Dewsbury.
  7. Pity we are not allowed in. I’d have liked to watch it.
  8. Better defence today, but, as stated above, we still lack ideas on attack. For four successive games we have failed to score in the second half, Huddersfield, Keighley, Bradford and today, that should be worrying as it looks like we run out of ideas and steam too. The winning try came from a second half build of York pressure and our tiring defence, which was more of a set of individuals trying to defend rather than a defending team with a strategy. Earlier in the second half, from a lengthy attacking stint with the help of a set restart, we should have made an attempt at a drop goal. That might just have sealed it at that point (no pun intended). We should also note that York left out a number of their top players.
  9. On current form (or lack of it) I think another defeat is on the cards. Dewsbury 6-32 York Try scorer: Carr. MoM: O’Connor Att: 673
  10. Ah, but some games are on SkySports SL+, which I think is a (further) subscription streaming service.
  11. HaxbyKnight, I understand the action taken by our club (and others too) does not sit well with those supporters over a certain age, but perhaps you can see the reason why it has been adopted? I think some of our supporters may well stay at home to watch too, for the same reasons you mention. We cannot please all our supporters all of the time.
  12. Too many of us older supporters and insufficient younger watchers, so a number of clubs now charge one price for admission (except for children).
  13. Not much to say about the performance. We were never going to get near them and didn’t disappoint in that. Whiteley’s try came from a good break by Graham and the winger nearly scored again in the second half, but was taken into touch. Perhaps the pass to him was a little late, the defence having time to get across. Generally we were poor on defence, both wings left open at times. The passing was slow and rarely accurate, either too high, or towards the ground. The forwards lack beef and don’t seem to want to charge at an opponent, instead leaving that to a winger, or passing the ball to another player, who was easily tackled. Much work to do. I am not convinced that Taufua got the ball down for his try, but perhaps the highlights might reveal.
  14. Like every other Dewsbury supporter, I hope for a much improved performance than the offered to those who visited Keighley last week. Even so, I cannot see victory coming our way. Dewsbury 12-44 FTS: Greensmith MoM: Davies Att: 1833
  15. That decent crowd may well be seen live as the match is to be broadcast by The Sportsman channel on YouTube, kick off 14:00.
