  1. Yes, it was banned in all branches of the Armed Forces until the formidable hard work and perseverance of Damien Clayton MBE, Martin Coyd OBE and Wayne Okell MBE finally paid off. I like to believe their well deserved honours are fair tribute to their dedication to the birth and fruition of our sport within HM Forces. Yours Aye CiderWire VD Scar, NAAFI Star (with bar)
  2. Do you think that past players, such as yourself, Stu Fielden, Kelvin Skerret, Moz, to name a few, would be prevented from playing at the current top level of our sport due to the prohibitive contact rules and over-zealous officiating?
  3. You are quite right, I have never met the young fella, or brushed shoulders in the changing room but I do have the right to an opinion, and I'm quite happy for folk to disagree and and create a constructive debate. However, I do know a little bit about leadership and I do know that, from what I witnessed, his immaturity and petulance were clearly displayed. I do not disagree that he is a wonderfully talented and gifted player and one day he may make a good leader. But not yet. As for GW, do we really want our creative players to be heading the tackle count? I'd much prefer to see him taking on the line and bossing the offensive aspect of the game. That's pretty much the duty of the halves!
  4. Welsby is not yet mature enough to be a captain of our national team. Lees is not yet mature enough. Bateman was immense. Williams was average. Whitehead will be missed. That is all.
  5. Can't help but feel this should have been the televised game. Should be a cracker with Wire to win by a whisker.
  6. Salford were demolishing Wire last week then it all went Pete Tong! Both of these teams are capable of rocks/diamonds performances so I reckon FC will take it if the crowd get behind them.
  7. Hullkingstern Rervers missing three key players in Abdul, SKD and Linnett so Wire may pinch this by 6-10 points. Had the aforementioned players been eligible I think Rervers could burst the Wire bubble!
  8. Leeds to win but I think Wakey will be up for this one and, hopefully, even if they lose, put up a good fight.
  9. What Leeds need is Gus Gould to offer his opinion stating 'Saints will declare at half time'. This might give them the motivation they need!
  10. I predict that Dwyer will have Leeds wondering why the hell they let him go. Hull by 6+
  11. Happy to be proved wrong, particularly in this way. I was hardly alone in thinking it might be a bridge too far for Saints.
  12. It will be interesting to see how The Smith Factor has, or hasn't changed the style of football we've been used to seeing from Hull. I've a feeling they will do well this year and on the occasions when they lose it won't be through lack of effort.
  13. Well, who saw this coming!? I am so impressed with the Wire forwards but Vaughan is an absolute machine. The team looks cohesive, happy and extremely fit. Leeds have a lot of work to do.
