After recovering from double pneumonia, being at the game last night with an already horrendous cold, I thought, ultimately, that the game actually benefitted from Tubby's tactics of fielding an "experimental" side. We could've put out a full strength side and won 60-0 or summat stupid, but I enjoyed the competitiveness of last night's game. Although I have to say, I wasn't feeling like that at 8-12 last night!!!!!!!!!!
I thought Oldham's halfbacks and hooker were excellent and ran us ragged in the eary stages and, Oldham's intensity visibly slowed when the no6 went off injured. Menzie and Richie Barnett were quiet, but neither had played for a while, and I'm still not convinced by Dane McDonald at halfback. The good thing for me was that they were pretty much a scratch side, and were put under a lot of pressure, but generally coped, and won the game. That bodes well for the future, I think.
