  1. I had edited the post prior to your post saying the difference is that hull is used in their names. I live in Wigan borough so I know! Leigh is a borough of Wigan. So whenever they play each other I say 'town centre versus suburb'' just to wind them both up.
  2. Why does wigan have two teams? Why does Wakefield have three? It's down to socio economic reasons. The difference with the hull situation is that they both have Hull in their name.
  3. I have read, Tony Collins I think, that the split was far more complex than broken time. The Lancashire and Yorkshire leagues wanted to form and arrange their own cup and league competitions. However, broken time payments were an issue. I think, again from Tony Collins, that they saw how professionalism had transformed association football. It's a while since I've read his books.
  4. Jim Quinn was that man. CH didn't ruin it, he kept it in a coma on life support. Thank goodness he did because we were waiting for the right time for Fordy and Bill Quinn et al to bring a new dawn. As for his time at widnes? Fans are fickle and at the moment they are 4 from 4 unbeaten. If and when 'the project' brings life back to rugby league in Oldham, then I will forgive the last twenty five years of drudgery.
  5. Mad that it's took so long! I'm sure I saw a lady touch judge years ago up at sheddings?? Could be wrong though I had had a pint pre match.
  6. Tried quoting Brookie, but the threads been locked. Cian Tyrer, who you had on loan last week, returned to the yeds and scored a double hat trick. The last player to do that for Oldham was the great Ike Southward in 1960. Don't know what you feed em up there but it's working wonders for us.
  7. Posted this on the main board league one forum. Did anyone else do this? I was there at BP for the game, and also had it on my phone on YouTube. Because the feed was about 30 seconds behind we were able to watch the tries, penalties etc as if in replay. Also when something happened that was hidden or too far away we were able to get see it close up. Best of both worlds.

  9. Mo limped off after his full lengther. Hope it's not serious. Don't know what the weight differential was but we seemed huge in comparison to Rochdale. They just couldn't hold us. Thought the minutes silence for John Etty was impeccable. Apart from, what seemed like, a tannoy announcement from outside.
  10. Shame about Emerson. He was a hundred percenter, no doubt. But, sometimes someone else's 80 % is better. Tbh it was almost definite he was going to the butterflies, I would've put a clause in his release that he couldn't play against us. As I've said previously, the ex players should've proved a point last year.
  11. The thing is they should've proved a point last year!
  12. We had to let him go to accommodate Bob Lindner on the overseas quota.
  13. Oddly enough we, Oldham, did the same and it seemed to work a treat. Craven, standoff at full back and Astley, full back at stand off.
  14. Also, looking at his reaction, I think this is when he tweaked his hamstring.
