50 years of heartache is over

What a game of football it was. I thought the Storm were going to snatch the game in the final minute.

And then it was tears time...

It was a very good game. I went in wanting Cronulla to win but the Storm showed unbelievable resilience and then nearly snatching it at the end. Cam Smith with 73 tackles was outstanding.

Overall I was glad to see the Sharks get their first title though.

Another game that was on the edge right till the final hooter... we have seen a few of those this year on both sides of the world.

Amazing feat. The last 5 minutes could only be described as "panic" for the Sharks faithful.

Unstructured defence saved the Sharks.

Both teams had their chances. A great display by the two best teams of the year.

"I think everyone that follows rugby league is... they have gotta be happy for the Sharks, they've been waiting a very long time for this" ... spoken at the time, 3 minutes after full time by the losing Captain, on behalf of everyone who "follows rugby league" including those on this forum.... except RabbitsRhino who unfortunately witnesses fights every weekend after his beloved Rabbits get pumped...!

Predictions for the future -

Crusaders RL to get a franchise for 2012 onwards -WRONG

Widnes Vikings also to get a franchise - RIGHT

Crusaders RL to do the double over Widnes and finish five places ahead of them -WRONG

Widnes Vikings NOT to dominate rugby league in years to come! STILL TO COME

sorry Davo, you are not just probably right....but.... but .... he earned it!

Even though I was wanting a Storm win,I thought it was a thrilling and at times brutal game worthy of a GF,with the efforts of all 34 players a credit to the game(well maybe not Ennis),enjoyed seeing Gallen/ET at the end and Smith's speech was top class, but they really do need to shorten the presentation,it lasted nearly as long as the game.

Well done to the Sharks. What will Cronulla winning the grand final mean to the Sharks short to midterm future in your opinion?? As I've heard rumours of the Sharks reloacating to Perth or maybe even Adelaide. Will we see a big boost in attendances next year for Cronulla and is shark park getting upgraded??

I think the Sharks were in trouble a few years ago but are now very buoyant financially. Which shows how careful we should be about writing off clubs I suppose.

Our house turned into a very happy corner of Shark Park for the day. The kids are very excited by the prospect of KFC Tuesday - though the delivery charges may be prohibitive...

The Sharks found a way but the last 2 minutes lasted hours. How the Storm winger didn't turn the ball inside I will never know.

Great game to round off a wonderful week end for the sport.

Financial difficulties are a thing of the past. A recent real estate development project is providing the club with a nice stream of revenue. And I believe the League's club owns the stadium. That premiership is the icing on the cake. Plus the club will get better deals from sponsors I reckon.

If a premiership doesn't boost next year's attendance, I don't know what will.

There's a bright future ahead. But Cronulla being Cronulla, anything is possible. The good and the bad.

On the field, with Ennis retired, and a few players on their last leg (Gallen, Lewis, Heighington...), finding the right replacements will be the key. This and our retention policy. Holmes, Bird, they'll attract big money offers.

I don't know... The next couple of years are going to be huge.
