Correct decision, but although this year has been a nightmare we have to remember phil turned our season around when he 1st came in and pulled off a couple of good finishes. Interesting to see who comes in now, must be a local if were complaining about finances, or i wouldnt be surprised at all to see us go down the same route as haven and mr sammut take over as player coach

london bound apparently. Too good for C1. If we are releasing a travelling coach for financial reasons its nailed on to be a local coach.

i dont think theres much truth in the london rumour

Yep, I think he had to go poor record this season although under difficult circumstances but last season was more the arrival of Sammut which sparked us into life rather than any input from Vievers I think. Would have loved to see Sammut as player coach but probably very unlikely under the present circumstances.

Whatever they do build from bottom up and get some stability. Dont throw money at travelling and foreign players to try and get up first time. Get a good structure try and get involved with local juniors, build a pathway from them to first team and produce players instead of having to shell out for lets be honest mostly average players from out the county.  Need to get into a position when they go up they can survive. Get the best local players and PLAY them week in week out. get experience and then give themselves a fighting chance in championship. Travelers and foreigners might get them out of this division but season after when they go whos left to pick up the pieces and stay in championship. IT CANT BE A QUICK FIX. Just my opinion.

getting the best local players will depend on who gets the coaching job. I do agree with your post though Brett.

I'm not too sure who's good enough to step up locally as I don't watch too many amateur games but always here good things about Bryan Ritchie at Distington, Tom Curwen, Liam Hood at Seaton,Pape at Flimsy so people in the know...

Who would you approach if you were on the board ?

Think it all depends how you want to play and build your squad. I dont always think the best amateurs make the best professionals. Theres more to it. Commitment  biggest one for me, a lot of commitment to succeed, games a bit quicker so does their game suit that. I think the club should defiantly work closer with amateur game. send people to games send people to training if they are interested in someone. no point watching a good lad each week if they dont train. that would be what you got. Juat think build it from bottom up instead of trying for quick fixes. just ends up in big changes every year. Get stability and youll get value for money
