  1. Williams played 100% of his time under Wane as a dedicated left sided player whereas Lam had him popping up on the right occasionally. Given Stuart is playing his halves left and right with Williams on the right, it’ll take a while for him to settle in but the signs were promising. Don’t forget England’s main half and stand off options are almost all mainly left sided too (Widdop, Gale, Hastings, Truman etc) so an on form George on the right would be good for the national team. Whitehead always looks good, Hodgson runs the Raiders very well, and Watkins looks sharp. A good start to the year for our boys.
  2. Sounds like I am on my own but I ways rated Kaufusi and thought he looked pretty good. In a better team at the right end of the table with good coaching he could be massive next year. Well done the giants. Will the last player out of London please turn out the lights.
  3. Oh come on, he'll be fine. I thought his worst game was the WCC vs Melbourne when he referred an incredibly slow game, but since then has been our top referee. A bit of banter and a smile is fine and I don't think his style will favour either side. Bring it on!
  4. Out of interest, were any of that squad born in Scotland? I know it's not the be all and end all, but I still don't like a team assembled entirely of heritage players. I can't see it doing wonders for the game long term (as others have noted re Italy) compares to Wales, although I would dearly love more scots to play at a high level.
  5. Hull is supposedly a League city but FC are full of players from other clubs and overseas. The only way to be right at the top consistently in the SL salary cap era is to build most of your side around great local talent ID and development. It amazes me that Hull after so much time in SL are still mediocre in this respect and should look closely at Wigan and Leeds in particular if they want to see how to become successful. Hull's recruitment has also been pretty haphazard too, and from the opening round they looked like they were still a few players off the very top clubs. McRae and Gentle going sounds about right though as a shift in emphasis and patience is required. There is no reason why given time Hull can't be the top club in the game - as much as this Lancastrian would prefer otherwise!
