Initial reaction from me was that if a club can't afford to travel to Perpignan then they should relinquish their SL place. Difficult in the C Cup where a Championship or lower division club could be drawn away to Catalans but it's a RFL comp and they could surely sort that problem out. Getting Catalans to pay for opposition clubs's travel to fulfil their fixture seems just like the utterly stupid idea that only the RFL are capable of!

Lots of fans will be upset with the officials as they probably wanted Penrith to win. I thought that last "six again" with only seconds to go was tough on Wigan. A Hull FC fan sat next but one to me and when Penrith scored he jumped up, punched the air and screamed "Yes". So what's happened to the "Grapple tackle"? Marshall nearly got choked to death in one tackle. A few seasons ago that would have been a clear pen and may be a yellow card. A great night and made a real event by the Wigan club. Noticed Ivan Cleary mentioned the occasion in his pressy and suggested that the WCC should be held in this country.

Pre Season Friendly Thread

Walters has been playing on the edge except when coming out of yardage. He won't be playing for a while as he suffered a "significant" collar bone injury in the Hull FC friendly. -
Televised games next season - has it been sorted yet?
Father Ted replied to Yorky's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Having the Wigan v Penrith game on the BBC is great. Trouble is Wigan's first game of the season is currently scheduled as Castleford away, Saturday 17th February, 3pm kick off. That would appear a dead ringer for the first BBC televised SL game of the season. All they have to do is change the kick off time. The down side is that the first fixture is at probably the worst ground in SL. The up side of course is that Wigan would be on two weeks together! -
Wigan play Huddersfield three times before they play Leeds. It's poor it really is!

There are rumours that Joe Shorrocks could sign for SRD with Harvie Hill going on a season long loan with them.

There will be a few leaving Wigan. King replaced by Keighran, Cust with no incoming for him. KPP with most of us think Walters is his replacement. Smithies going to Canberra, maybe Thompson his replacement or some Union bloke or other! Thornley will go. There are also doubts about the future of Powell and Shorrocks being at Wigan in 2024. That's seven to leave with probably other fringe players like Astley.

There's Harvey Makin in the reserves. On the cusp as said and has been named in the 21 by Peet for a few games. A good lad! Cooper won't start the season with Byrne and Havard also ending the season injured. Was suggested Eseh might be loaned to Wakey for a year. Chan and Hill may go on loan. Never the less some top signings by Wigan both for now and the future.
