John Scarrow welcomed everyone to the meeting and thanked them for attending

Gary Thornton gave a summary of current position:

We are 4th in the league at the moment and we should stay there.  This will give us a reasonable chance going into the play-offs.

Jordie Hedges and Jordan Howden are performing well, we are on track and I am happy with the team’s performance and the team spirit is fantastic.

We were hoping to be here from the start of the season and we are peaking at the right time.  We have no fear of anybody and confidence is high.

Injuries:  Mason Tonks 3 to 4  weeks off, Makali Azue available this week and Matt Nicholson being sent for a scan but not as bad as first thought.  We are in a healthy state.

Carl Hall confirmed that the Challenge Cup semi-final is being played here at the Keepmoat but Wigan and Hull FC are selling their allocation of tickets first before going on general sale.  We will announce when these are going on sale.

Questions:

Is there any news on Iafeta Paleaaesina?

GT:  He has played seven games for us but needs to play eight to qualify for the play-offs.  The deadline for playing this game is 24th July.  He is on track with his rehab and there is a possibility he could return for the Rochdale game.

We have a good pack – are you resting forwards every week?

GT:  We have rotation in place to keep everyone fresh and this also creates competition for places.  We look at who needs a rest after a big game and then rotate them, it is hard to keep everyone happy.

Sam Doherty is doing really well on his return?

GT:  Yes, scoring three tries against London.

Not a criticism but why do not utilise the speed of Foggin-Johnston?

GT:  Since he has been back from injury we have played on the smaller pitch.  Jordan Howden is our main kicker and he works well with Louis Sherriff and Sam Doherty – as was proved on Sunday, scoring three tries.  We don’t change anything that works.

How do keep the players that are not playing happy?

GT:  This is difficult – some play for Hull under 23’s but everyone trains well and the spirit is very good.  There will be some  changes this weekend.

The fringe players have been terrific this season.

GT: Yes they have, we have lost two/three players but the rest have been training hard every week and keeping their match fitness.  Mitch Vincent, Matty Welham, Aaron Jones Bishop and Reece Williams have been outstanding in terms of attitude.

Toulouse are a good team but we could win against them at home?

GT:  Their confidence is not so good away from home, it will be interesting to see them play against York this week.

The fixtures will get tough and we are not the best team in defence?

GT:  There have been one or two personal lapses in games due to lack of concentration but we are working on it.  The defence against London was much improved and it comes with having a much settled side. Goal line defence has been good last few games.

Re the Heritage Site – can we make progress on this?

A discussion took place about the Heritage site and it was agreed to form a small group so that information can be put forward to be posted on the site.  Ray Green to organise this.

Thank you to everyone who attended.

The next meeting will be organised in due course.
