Hodges, love him or... Wayne Bennett says

That tackle in the Preliminary Final against Roosters sees Justin Hodges come up before the game's judiciary this week to decide whether he'll play in the GF or not.

Bearing in mind you get 3 game penalty for throwing a bottle of water he ought to get a big penalty for his misdemenour.

He's a bit of a Marmite/Vegemite player, some love him and think he has a home for the sun.

Others think he's well as they say ... a grub.

Justin Hodges will have to head to the judiciary to take part in the NRL Grand Final after he was cited for a Grade 1 dangerous throw by the NRL match review committee on Sunday afternoon.

Hodges was charged for his tackle on Roosters forward Aiden Guerra in the 57th minute of the Broncos 31-12 victory in the Preliminary Final at Suncorp Stadium.

An early guilty plea would not be enough for the Broncos superstar centre to avoid suspension, meaning he'll have to successfully fight the charge at the NRL judicariy to take part in what would be his last ever game.

Hodges has announced his retirement from rugby league, meaning if he is found guilty, he'll have played his 250th and last ever NRL match.

It is expected the Broncos will fight the charge at the NRL judiciary to give their captain a chance to play in the decider.

The Broncos will clash with the Cowboys at ANZ Stadium on Sunday, October 4, for the Provan-Summons Trophy.

If the judiciary is fair, given rulings this season, then he should miss the game, though it's not the worst example of lifting.

I dunno, I mean I'm glad the NRL come down hard on lifting tackles and post-McKinnon they have to be seen to be tough but I think this is a victory for common sense personally. It was a fairly innocuous one I thought and undoubtedly they'll have factored in the circumstances of GF and retirement. I don't think they lose any credibility here personally. It's just a classic "grey area" isn't it but I don't have a huge problem with them giving the benefit of any doubt when there are high stakes in play. It's the sign of a sensible sport I think on balance.

Where's it leave Guerra then after his admission?

Where's it leave the Roosters Code of Honour?

Earlier this year coach Trent Robinson said: “We don’t play for penalties. We are not going to lie down.  It’s not in the spirit of the game. We will let the footy gods decide.”

Just hot air?
