Chase and new salary cap

Announced that Leigh have signed Chase and that the RL have agreed the Championship salary cap will be increased to 50% of the relevant income. With regard to the income it will be interesting to see what is relevant. Chase we have discussed before. Either a complete winner or a poor signing. Depends on your point of view.

Most championship clubs are going to really struggle with the new salary cap, I'm afraid there maybe many casualties as they cannot sustain the income to pay for the players that they've signed

Im Fev and im proud

Typical response from fans that hung off every word & press release of Feisal Nahaboo. The man who nearly sent you under and yet no other fans mocked you for it.

The difference being instead of knocking up amateur press releases about signing Crabtree & Brough, Beaumont & Co bring SKY Sports in to provide nationwide coverage of Leigh's ACTUAL SL quality signings.

Why not accept that although you don't have to like him, you have to respect what he has helped bring to the Championship??

Nope. ... I've lost all respect for the bloke after some of the carp he has espoused over the last couple of years. His vitriol and conduct of him and some of Leigh's players, coaches and fans has alienated leigh from many fans at other clubs.

So if it's all same binosh... I enjoyed a bit of a titter at Leigh's middle 8s performance and think I may permit myself a bit of a guffaw if it's repeated again next year.... particularly given the size of the wad he's chucking about to achieve it.

Ok, genuine ask then, could you give me some examples of what you mean? coaches & players conduct?

Attitindal approach to game. A level of arrogance recognised throughout the rest of the league....

There are many. It was ongoing most of the season .... but you don't do 'insight'.

Not all are the same. There are some leigh fans.... and some on your own forum that recognise how leigh has been perceived by other clubs this season.... and the cause of that angst...

Have a gander.... cos I can't be ar sed.

He likes a bit of a titter does Robin.

It's not like you to be troll-feeding at this time of day young man.

Binosh --If you want an example of a Leigh arrogant and "dirty" player look no further than Hock, also McNally is another arrogant player who always thinks he is wronged, and also thinks that he is a better ref than the actual man in the middle. That will do for starters WONT IT

I doubt that many Championship clubs except Leigh or Bradford will spend up to the new limits. Hence it won't make much difference to the majority.

Agreed, for the most part it does only effect the above teams in that they will be the only ones spending up to the cap. I have heard it does make some slight differences for other teams as well though, it gives other teams with good income streams the opportunity to spend more than what they are doing at the moment. I cant speak for other teams but it will increase the amount Fax can spend but given they dont spend up to what they could do anyway, probably the same for other teams, it will take a couple of seasons for any positves or negatives to show up.

Good luck to Leigh if they can afford to pay these players let them get on with it We need to worry what happens at Fev and get people through to gates to compete with the top four Regarding Chase he is one player I am glad is not playing in a Fev shirt next season but there is a few players at Leigh I'd Luke to see in blue and White

Three into two won't go, so I can't see why they've signed Chase when they've already got the best half back pairing in the Championship? Could lead to unrest.

Regarding the new salary cap. It sounds good when first read but further reading shows it has gone up from 40%. So it is a 10% increase. All sorts of income are included but it is only £100 pound extra for every £1000.

For what ever reason last season the HBs and the pack were found wanting when we needed them most, both areas have now been strengthened.I would also add both ridy and chase could be used as hookers

To be fair, Leigh should have gone up last year but the goalposts were changed, although I do like the middle 8's. Teams on the rise should be allowed to progress, and Fev and Fax should have been allowed in when they were on top. Increasing the salary cap will give Leigh & Bradford more chance, but any that don't make it could suffer in the long run, especially if all that qualify  to spend the extra cap follow suit.

I would prefer the same as last year for the qualifying stage, otherwise clubs like Oldham and Swinton will be swamped, then an increase in the cap for the 8's to allow the Championship clubs to compete on equal terms. Wakefield managed to strengthen for the 8's so it shouldn't be a problem for Leigh. Long term injuries could also be stop gapped by short term loans like Maitua's brief spell at Salford.

A lot of truth in what you say Steve although Im not sure how the goal posts were moved last year. Both Fev and Fax were screwed by a system where both of them could have made a go of it in SL. The problem with the cap is a lot like you say, it gives the top teams the chance to progress and makes them able to at least compete with the SL teams come the middle 8's but it also has the effect of watering down the standards in the Championship as teams at the bottom have no chance of competing and teams like Fax and Fev could potentially over stretch themselves trying to chase the dream. Saying that though once DB gets bored at Leigh and if they dont go up then he could pull out because its not like he has the money of Koucash to throw about. If that happened Leigh as a business are not sustainable.
