I knew it would be Bradford. Should be some good games.

Yep, was nailed on. I'd be surprised if we didn't play each other first game of the season as well.

So, the SL team just relegated, clear favopurites for promotion and likely to be streets ahead of everyone else in the competition, play the team that finished fifth?  Not London or any of the others of the top four. How the hell is that right or fair?  I have consistently said this Magic Weekend/Summer Bash concept is totally unfair.  QED.

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wise people so full of doubts.

Bury your memories; bury your friends. Leave it alone for a year or two.  Till the stories grow hazy, and the legends come true.  Then do it again - some things never end.

   It's 2 full-time sides against each other.

When Bradford were first relegated they played Leigh, didn't they? 2 full-time sides.

London played Sheffield earlier this year when both were full time, and next year London will play against Featherstone who have played against Leigh a couple of years ago and Halifax earlier this year.

As both Bradford and Hull KR boast the best support, that may also be a consideration.

That's the way the ball bounces...

Nice to see Sheffield Eagles there... :girlinlove:

No reserves, but resilience, persistence and determination are omnipotent.

The ball hasn't bounced, it's been placed. London should be playing HKR as the highest placed fully pro team.

Forever in our shadow, forever on your mind.

Didn't hear much moaning from Bradford fans when they were paired with Leigh last season. Get over it, the RFL have most likely picked the two best supported teams to boost the attendance and provide a "marquee finish" to the day. So what if London were the highest placed full time team, you and the other full time sides has a huge advantage over the rest of the league anyway, the RFL maybe thought you were strong enough to compete with HKR? Someone had to play them, they are not unbeatable as Oldham proved last season!

You weren't looking hard enough, as believe me, there was...

However the fixtures are designed, it's inherently unfair. In a league (normally, dont bore me with the exceptions) every club plays every other club home and away. The extra not-so-random fixture will always create an imbalance.

As it happens early enough in the season no-one really looks at the MM/SB fixture as being the one that cost the all-important play-off spot/funding based on league position.

No Cumbria teams this year so would think most Marras will go to Newcastle instead, sure HKR fans will make up for the 400- 500  or so missing Cumbrians - saying that no Leigh fans as well so overall crowd could be down a little.

Unless of course one or even two of them get to the Championship cup final, we may still go anyhow because we've really enjoyed the last 2 years

As Konkrete observes, the ball has been placed very specifically.  It has not bounced.

Had it "bounced", and if the criterion was to pit full-time sides against each other (if...) then HKR would play full-time side London, who finished 2nd behind promoted Leigh.  Why should they instead play Bradford, who finished fifth?  Although if Bradford do not improve markedly from last season (and on far less central funding), and still trying to run a full academy (unlike certain SL clubs), the mountain gets ever-higher and they could easily lose to anyone regardless...

But it is contrived nonsense like these fixtures that make people like me so cynical now about how the game has become.

Pity all the other fans are teetotal and never misbehave. Konkrete seems to think all the other teams should put the shutters up..literally...when the hordes from Rovers hit town.Bang goes that home game finance boost and bit of atmosphere. How prejudiced and one eyed can you be....trust Deluded Pom to jump on the bandwagon.

The RFL shouldn't be able to manage the fixtures...and distort the equity of the final table. If we have to have an extra game make it the luck of the draw!

Seems some Bradford fans are running scared of the Robins. We are coming to get yer!

I am confidently expecting you to bounce straight back up. Far too much firepower - off and on the field, and especially financially - to see much beyond that. Unless a Championship club has a Beaumont (or a Hudgell), the mountain is almost certainly too big to climb. London look to be the only club now with the potential financial firepower to challenge you.

I see it as a difficult challenge to get up. Every week Rovers will be there to be shot down, a notch on the bedpost for any side.

We need to win every game! to ensure 4 home games and achieve 3rd place in the middle 8s. To balance a whole season on the MPG is too risky particularly vs a SL side.

So every game counts.

Can relax in the Cup and go all the way?

Spot on. Bradford had the chance in 2015.  And blew it.  With a head coach whose mantra seemed to be quite the opposite of what you propose, treating the regular competition with disdain.   Leigh made the chance in 2016.  And did it. Do a leigh, and so may you - a winning, confident side up against one or more losing, probably demoralised SL sides - you guys know the score!

I was talking about Blackpool, the topic of this thread, rather than away games in general.  Some of us don't want to watch our rugby in a loutish drunken atmosphere in an awful place like Blackpool.

Forever in our shadow, forever on your mind.
