Fix the roof while the sun is shining

Recommended Posts

As we deservedly bask in Challenge Cup glory,it is important to remember the bigger picture. Championship survival for me is imperative if the club is to go forward. A return to Division One is unthinkable. The way we are playing at the moment has been a revelation and if we were to continue in this vein,we will be nearer top than bottom.

As Nobby commented after the Sheffield game,to produce two consecutive performances of such intensity is very difficult, so three on the spin must have taken a Herculean effort.Let us hope that it doesn't adversely affect us against Whitehaven.

Whilst we are in the RL spotlight, wouldn't it be an ideal opportunity to take advantage locally. I would be in all Tameside schools giving out tickets that would allow free entry for 2 children with each paying adult. I would even volunteer to deliver them myself. We have two really attractive games against Featherstone and Leigh coming up,and it is an ideal opportunity to showcase the game, the club and our magnificent team. For me it is a no-brainer,with nothing to lose and prospective new fans to gain.

Also, whilst we are on such a high,I would implore CH to consider bringing in a couple of experienced backs. We need cover in case injuries bite and it is no use relying on dual-reg reinforcements. Obviously, much will depend on the revenue from our cup run,but I believe that with  the addition of a tough-tackling outside back and an old head in the halves, survival would be more of a probability than a possibility. I'm sure we would be an attractive proposition for many players, given our current form and quality coaching staff.

Please don't wait until it is raining before we try to fix the roof!
