Saturday Teatime Matches?

Recommended Posts

Well that's two Saturday evening games, two wins, two good performances and two pretty reasonable gates. It suits me to have Sundays free for other things. The 5.30 kick offs also allow me to go out for a beer both before and after the game. Win, win situation. Anyone else got any thoughts ?

Be nice to hear what the players feel about it also.

Saturday evening games aren't that bad an idea.

I voted for it personally, I believe it's worth giving it a go and assessing the results. Although I know a lot of fans either don't like it or are staying away, which in all honesty hasn't really affected the crowds for either game.

Let's be absolutely honest though the next 2 coming Saturdays games vs. Oxford & Hemel will be the true acid test in terms of crowd size, as both the previous Saturday games were against teams who are quite well supported away, and both team that the floating Hornets fan would want to see games against. No disrespect but Oxford and Hemel on the other hand will probably bring no more than 50 Or so between them I would have thought, and aren't quite as attractive to the floating Hornets fans.

Let's not forget that this Saturday 'experiment' wasn't done to just boost crowds it was more about responding to the players request to get a better recovery in after games and spend some more time with there families and if that's the yard stick then the two Saturday's games so far have produced 2 brilliant (for different reasons) dispays and decent crowds, so it's a winner for me....so far.

but we will undoubtably learn more from the next 2 Saturday matches IMO

It's not good for me as it wipes out most of the afternoon and evening as over 50 miles to travel and the traffic can be heavy. I would prefer an afternoon 3-00pm or evening 7-30pm kick off. Glad I didn't buy a season ticket. I can see the logic of playing on Saturday (as they used to when I started watching Hornets over 60 years ago) and would attend matches if in the later evening or afternoon. However I hope it is a success. At least I will see some Sunday matches.
