Keith T
Swop Fev and Dewsbury round and you are correct!! I remember when ............................."It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimension, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave Hadfield - Independent 25th August 1996. town4me
No easy games but All them home games are very winnable and hawks away. Fev and London are big ask away. The situation certainly looks a bit brighter than 2 or 3 weeks ago but still plenty of RL to be played. Staying in this league is a must. Ginock1
The hunslet game is massive next week. As earlier posters on another thread have said if we get 5 points ahead of them I really can't see them winning 3 games more than us in the final 7 games. We are heading in totally right direction, bar Marty we have nearly a full squad where as hunslet are in freefall and theres injuries for haven and form has deserted them too. Terry Mac
Batley and Fev are tough home games, although on current form we have a good chance. You'd expect a win against Donny and Whitehaven though. We've Drew away and should've beat Dewsbury at home and Hunslet maybe weaker in the duel reg come the super 8's. London playing at home are a tougher ask mind you. All in all I think 4 wins are achievable, the others who knows. Winning games becomes a habit.
Piggy's mate
It is certainly going to be interesting to see who can scrap for the last Semi Final spot prob between, Town, Haven & Batley. ivans82
haven have fev away , batley go to dewsbury , we could possibly still lose at hunslet ( not that i think we will mind you ) , and still finish 8th ,

Keith T
Today's News and Star says that both Town and Haven return to action on 15th /16th August but in fact the first matches in the Super 8's are on the weekend of the 8th / 9th of August. I remember when ............................."It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimension, in the shape of Paris. dkw
Barley home then hunslet away, 2 wins sees us pretty safe. Jameaters got fev away, London home then rams away. Wonder if they still think there's no difference between finishing 8th and 10th.....

Wonder if they still think there's no difference between finishing 8th and 10th..... As much as I agree with what your saying the problem is fev dews and London are virtually guaranteed a place in the semis so I'm guessing all 3 clubs will be trying kids and resting players etc. which could help teams at the lower end of the table and could play a major role in who goes down with donny. Yes theirs 25k extra for finishing 5th and 6th but I think these clubs will be looking at players for next season who don't get regular games at the moment like kids who might be up and coming. DavidM
I agree gaz . How those three teams play will be the big imponderable . They could go to Ibiza on month long beano and be in the semis . I find it a bit strange and artificial anyway that your playing for a trophy for finishing half way up , but I think they made this 8 up as they went along - apart from relegation the rest had nothing to play for. The incentive and intensity of the top three teams will be a big factor . Looking at our fixtures we can and need to be looking to make it secure early on

Looking at our fixtures we can and need to be looking to make it secure early on Yes I agree but i think the RFL had to make the bottom 8s playable for the top end of the bottom 8s by giving them an extra 50k for winning the shield. I don't think the shield is important but the 50k is and if the RFL didn't give incentive for the top clubs in the bottom 8s they wouldn't even have to field a team lol. But with the extra 50k up for grabs it makes the teams higher up have something to play for. For what it's worth I think your safe I think hunslet losing last week and you and haven winning put a final nail in their coffin.
DavidM
I do to . I thought that was a big game on Sunday. Just talking mathematically really . Anything we achieve now is a bonus for me . Like many of us I was concerned coming into July . Couldn't see a win , couldn't score points . Terrific turnaround and being safe and planning for great championship rugby again next year and moving forward with our playing strength will do me . Any thing more in terms of prize money or play offs is a good bonus

Any thing more in terms of prize money or play offs is a good bonus I've got a bad feeling the league will be harder next season. With Eagles going FT and London won't make the same mistakes as this year along with us. Fax getting a good bit of funding and the bottom clubs now knowing what they need to stay up I think it will be very tough especially for the 2 coming up who I fully expect to go straight back down as hunslet haven't got a bad side this season but have still fallen short. OttO
We've got as good a chance of everybody as making the 4th play-off spot.... but I suppose we can only dream of making the shield final as it would mean a tough play-off semi away from home.... unless we can emulate the exploits of 92/93 when we played Featherstone at Old Trafford.
