wings beneath my feet
sounds like we were lucky to get a draw 18 all but I was listening on bais BBC Leeds - given their bias - they did say we should have had a 40-20 but Laughton said NO

wings beneath my feet
I have never known an eagles match at featherstone when Fev fans didn't say the ref was on Eagles side - I remember one match he (Karl Kirpatrick I think had to have a police escort off the pitch) - I wasn't there today so I can't really comment on this one but sometimes mate the Ref if right ( I was only commenting on what the BBC Leeds commentators said) Edited February 7, 2010 by wings beneath my feet

wings beneath my feet
I envy you the experience of having seen the draw - we have at least two more encounters this year amd I'm sure like last year we will be close but after last seasons last game it does seem odd that fev fans should complain about unfair treatment or rough stuff Edited February 7, 2010 by wings beneath my feet
Basil Exposition
I'm happy with the draw. It's was a slow start but we got back into it well. Lets bear in mind it was a fairly scratch experimental side. Ronnie was his usual pedantic self but we should expect nothing less. Glad it was a good rugby spectacle and not a boxing match. Plenty to go away and build on. 2010 - Where it all begins again......

E.S.O
Performance was average at best, were probably lucky to scrape a draw but at least we kept going until the end. Team was largely experimental, we're obviously still waiting for a couple of our best players to arrive. The kicking game in particular today was really off, needs working on for the start of the league season. Away support was incredibly disappointing today, I know it was cold and no one really cares about this competition but surely we should be able to take more fans than we did for what is a really short journey. Hopefully the last minute try to snatch a draw should give us some momentum into next week's game. Oh and as for the ref "being on our side" get a grip, I thought the ref actually had a decent game today, if not a little pedantic for both sides. Yes Mitch did a spear tackle, but he called it! And placed him on report, which was probably the correct decision. The high tackle right at the death just before we scored on Alex Rowe was 10x worse but was only punished with a penalty. Quit munching the sour grapes and admit you didn't win because you didn't kick enough goals, nothing to do with the referee.

aquilla
I thought Ronnie had a good game and bearing in mind the last encounter it perhaps needed this type of ref today. However todays game was more about playing Rugby that fisticuffs. Featherstone missed 3 kicks but they weren't easy ones however the player who missed the drop goal should be towel whipped in the showers by his team mates. I thought we were OK today, bear in mind we have Danny Mills, Menzie Yere,Misi Taulapapa and Ryan Hepworth to come in so it's looking good. There are two rules for success: 1.) Don't tell all you know.

Still I suppose that as your fellow fans on your own page also disagree with your views it might be best if you just go quietly away .... Make me, its called freedom of speech. Selective quoting on your part me thinks. If you can't be bothered to travel all the way to Fev to watch the game, you can't comment can you. Feel free to chastise me and attempt a bit more 'one upmanship' amongst your fellow fans to look good, its quite funny to see your feeble attempts. The weak conform, the strong survive. E.S.O
Just out of interest Sidnee, why did you delete your first two posts? I cannot agree that anyone can be guilty of a spear tackle when they are always in front of the player advancing on then, my view of said incident was that the player did a handstand as he was tackled, it looked bad but was not malicious. I'd be amazed if Mitch was penalised for this spearing accusation....... LOWFIELD
Rovers should of won the game the reason they didnt and drew are down to 3 little incidents in my opinion, minor little things that cost games. 1st one was when we got penalised for not playing the ball correctly when we were in a good attacking position shocking mistake, 2nd Jack Lee broke through with people on his side he decided to go himself fair enough then when tackled got a rush of blood and flipped out a pass, Sheffield regathered, had he taken the tackle with 3 left who knows, not calling Jack because he always gives his best, 3rd and last letting you score at the death straight from acting half, shocking school boy error to let that happen. I'd be amazed if Mitch was penalised for this spearing accusation....... It wasn't at all malicious, me and my Dad both said we'd be surprised if any further action was taken, I think it was a spear tackle though. Ronnie wasn't to blame for Fev not winning. Twice in the first half we had players unmarked out on our left and for some strange reason didn't pass the ball to them, and that was very close to your line where had we passed we would have scored. In the second half when up by 6 we should have gone for goal when awarded penalties to extend the lead but didn't and had earlier opportunities to get a drop goal in what was a close match. We should have won but didn't so well done Sheffield for hanging in there right to the end. Oh, and I didn't think it was a bad tempered game, the spear tackle was accidental and the head high at the end by Tonks was a lazy tackle and nobody really reacted which was good to see. Excellent post, someone with a bit of sense!
