Graham
Yes, I know, it's weird isn't it that Wayne Bennett has rewarded a player generally considered dirty by making him captain of the side this week in the absence of the senior players before Origin. Here's a bloke who's just come back from a ban for a chicken wing tackle on his Broncos team mate Sam Thaiday in the Aus/NZ game. Prior to last weekend's representative fixture, Blair also missed the Broncos' 30-28 defeat by Cronulla in round nine due to suspension for dangerous contact on Rabbitohs half-back Adam Reynolds. 'Ever so sporting and clean as a whistle when he was playing' Gorden Tallis reckons Blair is one of the dirtiest players on the field and means to be so. Tallis reckons Blair shouldn't be wearing a Broncos Jersey. Blair says his shoulders are broad, but he's upset his wife and children cop hurtful comments about him around and at school. Defending Blair is one thing but making him captain albeit temporary, is a perverse sort of decision. The Australian Rugby League Forum
DiddyDave
Yes,I thought this was a very poor decision by Bennett,I think Alex Glenn or maybe Andrew McCullough far better options. Maybe Bennett thought with Blair playing against his old club it would bring out the best in him. As it turned out the Tigers more than held their own against the Broncos forwards and thoroughly deserved their one point win.
Graham
I thought Blair was largely ineffective in the game. He's not captain material. He basically played his usual game. In and out of the action, The Australian Rugby League Forum
