Signings

I said the same as a Fax fan as it looks like we have just taken 4 players off our salary cap for what I can only imagine is to bring in at least 1 new face. Stringer will do a good job for whoever he signs for if he is fit.

Heard stringer is off york with keal carlise off to fev

While knowles & qlt will stay at sheffield but who knows anything can happen

Would take Stringer on board props are a must for us

Agreed, with  as much heart and fire that Kyle Trout and Luke Adamson play with, .. they could never be called props!! We have been found wanting a number of times this season through the lack of 'big lads'  I think he would do us a good job!

Mitch Stringer would be a welcome addition, let's hope we've got the funds to try make this deal happen

Cue for Wilsden with the cold water.  :tongue:

Top signing will be a great addition in a area in which we've struggled in this season, hats off to Glenn and Mark for making this hapoen

Has he signed then?

Well he's currently full time at Sheffield so we certainly couldn't afford that, so maybe a loan deal would be the only possibility. I'm sure that friendly, cheerful Mr Aston would gladly agree to that. {Update - my mistake, I didn't know that Stringer has now actually left Sheffield, so now you never know. Anyone got a couple of grand to spare?}

{Edit #2 - and has now been signed by the club - well done guys!}

Next season could be a different matter, however. Sheffield are pretty certain to revert to P-T unless a rich backer appears out of the blue so they will likely lose a number of players (QLT is reported to be joining Toronto for example). But which might we really want to sign if available?

What Wilsden Ram does not know about Batley is not worth not knowing no how.

If the Stringer signing is true, I'm delighted to have misjudged you WR. Still, I bet you told your kids Santa clause didn't exist when they were about four years old so as not to raise their expectations at Christmas.  ;)

Il Cattivo - I am not privy to the financial situation at your club or your overall recruitment

intentions

I was responding to your fellow Bulldog's remarks about us spending next year's Budget on players for

the current season by assuring him that we are not doing so.

However, I do know that there is one Heavy Woollen club spending next year's Budget on players for

next year and no doubt the announcements will be made at the appropriate / correct time.

Nothing wrong with doing that and a bit of forward planning. Perhaps I am jealous because the Rams don't

know their funding levels yet for next year.

Come on, that was not what you put and not what you meant! The implication was that we are spending next season's money now! Personally, l couldn't care less.

Funny, I didn't interpret it that way. I read it as a reference to Batley trying to recruit a number of players for next season already, including at least one from Dewsbury. This might be due to the confidence that your club must have in knowing what they will have to spend next year.

Even though we don't know our funding levels yet,we are still hopefully talking to players to come to the rams for 2017 and talking to some present rams players of staying at the club,surly ??

I'm speculating, but would imagine that it is a difficult conversation to hold when the club don't know how much money they can pay or which league we will be playing in. Players would only need to read a couple of threads on this forum after all to find that there are one or two supporters who are predicting (hoping?) that we get relegated.

If I recall correctly clubs haven't started this kind of recruitment process until much later in previous seasons. Maybe it is just the enthusiasm of a nrw coach shining through.

After the two wins against Bradford and Oldham, think we have avoided relegation. Workington are as good as down now and assuming we can win a couple more games then there is little chance we will be in the other relegation spot.

Even I reluctantly concede we aren't going down.
