  1. Your assessment is probably less bias than mine, to be fair. A supporter is always going to be skewed towards his own team!
  2. Good summary...plus the Cougars players were much more adept in appealing for penalties...the count in the second have seemed way more in favour of Cougars, including 6-agains....and I remain unconvinced that Cougars were not held up for their 4th try. It seems our second half discipline is our Achilles heel, something I'm sure our caching staff will be working on. We're still in 3rd place after 4 games and I'm sure we'll be looking to make it 4 from 5 at home next weekend.
  3. Agree. Pat Rainford (North Wales Crusaders halfback) made a lazy tackle at Cornwall and had landed a 6 week (thats right, 6 weeks) suspension.....basically because he tried to get the player to his feet. Thats just extremely harsh
  4. Wins for North Wales Crusaders (just), Hunslet (just) Oldham and Hornets. Midlands could be the surprise result and they could come up with a win; they certainly pushed us all the way at Eirias Park. Cant see anything but a win for Oldham and Hornets, although Newcastle did come strong in the second half last weekend. Can Crusaders beat Keighley at Cougar Park? We've not got a great record there and realistically its a big ask, but not impossible. We'll have to be at our very best if we do want to win and cut out the silly penalties and unforced errors.
  5. I was supposed to be in Ireland playing Masters RL against Leinster Stags on Saturday....but after two aborted landings in Dublin our plane was diverted to Manchester it meant I was able to get to the North Wales Crusaders game yesterday (Sunday)!! After the first half in Eirias Park yesterday I was expecting Crusaders to romp away to 70 points...it wasn't to be. Thunder put up a spirited performance in the second half and really deserved their 18 points. Crusaders slipped into poor discipline again - although we've won 3 from 3, we need to improve our discipline overall.
  6. Great to see a thread on this game on TRL. Congratulations to Catalans Dragons, what a fantastic team they have. But..... why isn't this featured on the RFL socila media feeds? why isn't the game reported on the BBC Sport Rugby League pages but only found on the Disability Sport pages? Wheelchair RL is an elite sport for people with disabilities...
  7. Hi Both, I don't want to divert the thread too much but since you both asked about my travels to PNG heres a brief response. I flew independently, and not as part of the Wales entourage - so it wasn't cheep! Its as hot as a blast furnace once you get off the plane! The Wales mens Team Manager is a friend, and ex-police officer - he advised me NOT to go - the Foreign Office advice is scary! I reached out to people on Facebook who were in PNG and had links to Wales to help me. One was a nephew of a North Wales Crusaders fan who worked in PNG, the other was one of the RLWC2017 organisers on the ground in PNG. They advised me to stay in a hotel with armed security - I picked the Crowne Plaza; the hotel arranged to pick me up from the airport. One of the guys took me out into Port Moresby on the night before the game for a few beers and to watch the opening game of the tournament on TV in the hotel where Wales tem were stopping (The Stanley). I was driven to the game (after an amazing Chinese meal) but friends of the organiser. I had a ticket gifted to me by the WRL so I was in the air-cooled corporate bit rather than baking out in the blistering heat! The atmosphere was unreal! I've never heard such a noise in a stadium. The fans are absolutely fanatical about RL. Wales lost but at least scored in the last minute. After the game I blagged a lift back to the team hotel in the kit van, as I'd got split up from the guys who took me to the stadium. Wales had a police escort back to their hotel which was lined with hundreds and hundres of people wanting to wave to the players or get souvenirs. To be honest, I really didn't go out of the hotel unless I was accompanied by someone who knew Port Moresby or when I went to the game....basically I flew in for the game and out again after, back to Australia. I met some lovely lads from Canterbury Bulldogs in my hotel. They'd been out helping to construct a school somewhere in PNG. They shared a taxi with me back to the airport and game me a Bulldogs polo shirt! I'm glad I did it. I'm glad I made arrangements before going and went with the knowledge I had contacts to help me. I'd love to have seen more of Port Moresby and PNG but everyone warns you of the consequences of getting caught up in criminal activities. Would I go again.... yes, purely for rugby league purposes though.
  8. I was involved in the Wheelchair competition and have to say that the RLWC was a fantastic experience for the teams involved. I was Team Manager for Wales and we felt totally included in the World Cup... our players were payed pro rata and had proper facilities and stadia.... and the TV coverage meant the game got thousands of people watching some amazing athletes. And although Wales got knocked out in the semi-finals, I went to watch the final in Manchester and that was one of the best live rugby league experiences I can remember.
  9. I volunteered in 2013 and travelled independently in 2017 to follow Wales in PNG, Townsville and Perth - then on to Wellington, and Brisbane - 7 weeks. I'd planned ahead for France and was one of the reasons I bought a motorhome! Now those plans are scuppered I'm still hoping to go to RLWC 2026 - and sincerely hope the International game gets its act together pretty soon.
  10. Best SL Game St Helens v Catalans Dragons. Catalans scored on the hooter to equalise and Scott Deureau slotted the kick to win Best North Wales Crusaders game Any of last seasons play off run Best Wheelchair game 2017 RLWC Wheelchair final between England and France Best Challenge Cup Warrington vs Hull 2016. I sang 'Abide with Me' with the Fans choir, on th epitch before kick off Best game I played in Wales Masters RL vs Ireland vs England in Bethesda 2022. My first cap for Wales!
  11. I thought the Hurricanes gave as good as we expected and dominates periods of the game leaving Crusaders relying on the defence - which, in the main stood up well agains a dogged and determined attack. We have to make better decisions with the ball in hand and not gift opportunities to our opposition. Well played Hurricanes; it was a game either side could have won - I'm just glad we had that bit more experience in our team.
