  1. It has to be this. Surely Yorkshire folk would want to win to prove how great Yorkshire is (not that they need any convincing), and as a citizen of the rest of the world, I'd seriously hate it if they won.
  2. Well done all, not only do we have a full squad, with players in their proper positions more or less, but also a coach, and representatives from every SL club (I think). Looks like it might struggle to make the playoffs though! 1 Krisnan Inu Widnes 2 Liam Kay Toronto 3 Kevin Iro Saints 4 Junior Sa'u Wakey 5 Marcus Bai Bradford 6 Danny Orr Cas 7 Lachlan Lam Leigh 8 Ligi Sao Hull FC 9 Tommy Lee Giants 10 Andrew Gee Wire 11 Jesse Sue HKR 12 Andy Hay Leeds 13 Willie Isa Wigan 14 Ken Sio Salford 15 Tyrone May Catalan 16 Joe Mbu London 17 Sam Moa Hull FC Coach - Tony Rea
  3. Not shortest in height, but shortest names. As a bit of light entertainment, and to idle way some time, can we put together a full 17-man squad from the SL era with players whose surnames consist of only 3 letters? No repetitions allowed i.e. only one Iro or Lam allowed. So to kick off, and without any regard to positioning: Lam Iro Sio Kay Isa Sao Bai Hay Gee Any more for any more?
  4. Well that's big of him. Twit. Hope the Pies sort his lot out big time on Saturday.
  5. Where's the poll then? FWIW I'd rather not have the spoiler scores either, and it must surely have an effect on whether or not people will watch the other games afterwards. Let's see what happens tonight anyway.
  6. It's been remarkable how easy the players have seemed to find playing the ball with the foot, after having so many problems doing so previously. I like the clampdown on players adding to the tackle for no other reason than to slow it down after it's complete too. And also the penalty instead of the 6 again inside the 40. In fact it's all good, or will be once the players stop doing the high shots and we can enjoy 13v13 again.
  7. I don't want to start all that again, but do you really think Watts offence was worse than the 2 last night?
  8. Agreed, was closer to a red than no card. And for those arguing it wasn't a yellow, shouldn't there have been a yellow for the other Leeds player next along who tackled the HKR player without the ball? That's a 'professional foul' in the circumstances and every bit as bad as Hiku's offence. Whatever the rights and wrongs of the cards, the main conclusion we can draw is that Liam Watts got a very bad deal.
  9. 25K isn't a bad size for a stadium. I've no doubt that we could sell more tickets than that, but on balance having it in Wigan would seem to be more fitting. Should be a great night.
  10. You only need to go back to the time Saints beat the Broncos, and the footage of Darren Lockyer sitting in the changing rooms all by himself half an hour after the game ended with his kit still on and a face like thunder, while club members tried to tell him it wasn't important and he should join the rest of the lads on the bus. Think that was the one trophy he never won.
  11. I couldn't care about Frawley either (although I don't rate him much). I was just pleased to see Beau Falloon get a mention earlier. I'd completely forgotten about him! Apart from that, good to see Leeds pushing the boat out. While it's been great fun to see them floundering, we've had our laughs, and the league will be much much better for a strong Leeds side.
  12. I don't think that our refs are, as a whole, worse than those in the NRL. There have been some terrible decisions in recent NRL matches, much to the amusement of the commentary team, and a whole lot more where they've been saved by the captain's challenge. The number of errors we see in SL are about the same. You get the odd poor performance from one ref or another, but those things happen. No doubt better funding might help add more depth to the refereeing pool - that's the major area where improvement would be welcome.
  13. It seems to me that the only non-national component of the UK with anything approaching an separate identity is Yorkshire. I haven't been there more than a couple of dozen times probably, but they do seem to bang on about it being special, and big and different, and I have heard chants of 'Yorkshire' coming from fans of individual Yorkshire teams. So instead of 'Roses', which disenfranchises most of the country, why not Yorks v the rest of the country, and they can prove how special they are. As a comparison with Origin, and the animosity between the 2 states, I'd guess that the closest thing that we have to a county than no-one else likes is Yorkshire. I even think that people might be better disposed towards Leeds if it were located elsewhere. So Yorks against the world (or the rest of England).
