The Australian Schoolboys team was named a little while ago.

1. Nic Cotric

2. Mawene Hiroti

3. Zac Lomax

4. Tuimavave Afualo

5. Campbell Graham

6. Lachlan Lam

7. Sean O’Sullivan

8. Pasami Saulo

9. Blake Brailey

10. Thomas Mikaele

11. Brodie Jones

12. Josh Curran

13. Sean Keppie

14. Dean Blore

15. Reece Robson

16. Payne Haas

17. Michael Tupou

We have had input from our Australian friends that Cotric is one to watch - would be interested to hear if there are any other stand outs.

The Academy team should be named in the next 24 hours.

Great to see 2 youngsters from my home village in the side. Caine Barnes is an absolutely outstanding prospect, and has done well to make the team as he's only recently turned 17.

I’m not prejudiced, I hate everybody equally

That's some achievement. What positions to they play?

Barnes is a second row. Mikolaj Oledzki from Leeds is only 17 as well (prop).

It will be a young but very talented English team.

That should be fun - seeing Rugby League fans cheering for someone called Ganson. B)

Fairclough and Barnes are, I'm guessing, off for the game as both were helped from the field. Fairclough - knee or ankle. Barnes - neck or head but did sit up after five mins. Oledzki was outstanding for England in the first 20. Cotric has had a big hand in at least three of the Oz tries (scoring one).

(The above assumes that everyone is in the correct shirt numbers).

That early se on half try to Danny Walker made it 28-16 to Australia after 43 minutes but that was as good as it got for England as Australia ran out to a 50-16 lead.

Two late tries by England meant it ended 50-26.

A big win for the Aussies... well done to them and a lot of work for the young English kids before game 2 next Saturday.

Apologies for saying 30-10 at half-time, I didn't properly watch the conversion attempt. Some late positives but, as Dunbar said, plenty of work to do before next week. I had a word with a few of the lads at FT and they're pretty upset so we'll see if they can use that next week. I believe Caine Barnes has been ruled out of the next test due to concussion.

I thought England were doing well up until Fairclough got injured, take O'Sullivan out of the Aussie team and it effects them badly so losing your halfback was a disaster.

Losing Barnes meant they were down to 15 and it was a bit of a rabble after that.

Kicked out on the full twice in a row and conceded back to back tries. They need to learn quickly.

For England a special mention to Matty English who despite being up against a much bigger opposition he kept coming all day.

Australia got more impact of the bench which made a huge difference.

At least it gets them used to losing to Australia early in their careers.

:-)

I know this is a light hearted comment... and nothing wrong with a bit of banter but I think you raise a very valid point.

For decades the Australian Schoolboys never lost a match and that sense of invincibility continued through the senior ranks.

Then the Junior Kiwis beat them for the first time and now the English Academy and the Schoolboys have a much more even record with the English winning quite a few series.

I don't think there is any coincidence that the Kiwi senior team started to beat the Aussies. It is now up to the generation of English test players who beat their Australian counterparts at junior level to win at the full test level as well.

We all know that psychology plays a big part in sport and having the attitude instilled in you from an early age that can never beat the guys wearing that Green and Gold jersey is going to have a long term effect. That is not the case any more (despite this mornings result!).

Sorry for the serious reply to what was a fun comment.
