I recall the 2 old blokes on the Muppets (not Eddie & Stevo) saying 'nearly as funny as Phyliss Diller'.

We had no idea who she was (no Google in them days) but it became a bit of an in-joke with my brothers. And still is I suppose.

Fortunately the council, like in most Lancashire towns, has long since upgraded the toilet facilities used by its residents. As long ago as 2008, it provided her with a replacement chain.
