England and Fiji matched each other on the scoreboard of a physical encounter at the KC Stadium which was scoreless for 33 minutes.
England’s Sam Burgess lost the ball in the act of scoring shortly after Fiji’s Korbin Sims had been placed on report for an alleged spear tackled on James Graham.
Daryl Millard had a try wiped off for Fiji soon after when Sam Tomkins was ruled to have been obstructed.
Big hits were coming fast and furious from both sides to keep the fans happy despite the lack of tries, with Fiji eventually opening the scoring.
A superb pass from Ryan Millard set Tariq Sims free and he had Eloni Vunakece on his inside with the substitute’s try converted by Wes Naiqama.
Kevin Sinfield provided the pass for Ben Westwood to score with Sinfield adding the conversion to level the scores.
