I understand that several Haven players may be taking part - led by Chairman Gordon Grace who was a senior Yorkshire County player when they were beating anyone and everyone. Sounds like a fun evening!

COCKERMOUTH Cricket Club is set to stage Matthew ‘Tutty’ Tunstall’s Twenty20 Testimonial on Friday night (6pm start).
Testimonial season: Town’s Matthew Tunstall Town prop Tunstall has played for Workington Town over the last 12 years and will lead his Middle Wicket XI against a Legs Eleven side which will be led by Haven chairman Gordon Grace. A Scottish international, Tunstall has comeback from a horrendous knee injury to be one of Town’s best forwards this season. “Anything Tutty gets out of the night will be deserved and I am more than pleased to do anything to help him out,” said Grace, who in his day played for the Royal Navy and Yorkshire, and also played during testimonial games for the likes of Yorkshire cricket legends Brian Close, Fred Trueman and Ray Illingworth. “He’s been a great player for the club over the years and I know that the Haven coaches have always pin-pointed Matthew as the main man to stop. “It is going to be a great night and I hope that fans from both Town and Haven turn out to support the event.” The Legs Eleven side will include the likes of local MP Tony Cunningham, Reds’ keeper Adam Collin, CFM’s Herbert Briggs and David Southward, son of former Cumbrian rugby league legend Ike. Haven coach Ged Stokes will also line-up in a side that will also include former Town director Dave Smith and Vic Semple. Middle Wicket XI skipper Tunstall admitted that he might lose a few hours sleep before the big one, and said: “I haven’t a clue about cricket. It could be entertaining and embarrassing. “But I’m looking forward to a great night and I’d like to thank Cockermouth Cricket Club for staging the event. “On selection, I’m keeping a few surprises up my sleeve, but hope to have Town team-mates Neil Frazer, Jason Mossop, Dexter Miller, Ryan Campbell and James Robinson in the line-up. Coach Dave Rotheram will also be there to offer expert guidance and keep an eye on us! “Deb (Stokes) has done a tremendous job organising this and I’d like to thank her for all she has done.” Event organiser Deb Stokes said that she was delighted to organise the event. She added: “Ged and I have become close friends of Mathew and his family and we are only too pleased to help him in his testimonial year. “Such is the keeness to be involved in the game, one of Tutty’s friends said ‘I can’t bat or bowl, but count me in’. “And although the skill level on both sides looks a little fragile, it’ll be fun and Tutty who win one the night.” Cockermouth Cricket Club representative, April Carruthers, said: “When Deb first approached us about the possibility of staging this game, we were only too happy to say ‘yes’. “A sportsman’s long association with their home club is to be applauded and supported, no matter what the code.” Entry to the game at Gote Road, Cockermouth will be just £1 (kids free) and there will a BBQ and the Cricket Club bar will be open.
