Celtic under 18’s win the Yorkshire Cup for the second time in three years. The under 18’s put on a blistering first half display to sink the Milford Marlins. Celtic put a fantastic well disciplined team performance, which was brilliant to watch from start to finish.

Celtic opened the first half at a blistering pace, scoring in the 3rd minute with Jordan Lyons putting Danny Buckley over under the sticks, Niki Crabtree converted 6 – 0. 7th minute Tom Kilroy side stepped the Milford defenders to sprint 40 metres to the corner, Niki Crabtree converted from the touchline 12 – 0. 11th minute prop Jordan Lyons saw a gap in the defence to power over 10 metres from the corner, Niki Crabtree added his third conversion 18 – 0. Milford gave Celtic an extra two points with a penalty from 20 metres out, kicked by Niki Crabtree 20 -0. 0n the 20 minute mark Josh Brooke put Tom Kilroy over for his second try, scoring under the sticks, converted by Niki Crabtree 26 – 0. Celtic’s only lapse in their defence allowed Milford in for a converted try in the 28th min 26 – 6. Celtic bounced back with their 5th try of the half from Andrew Bates scoring in the corner, unconverted 30 – 6. Celtic finish off their near perfect half not giving one penalty away before Josh Brooke kicked a drop goal from in front of the posts on the stoke of half time.

Celtic playing uphill in the second never gave Milford any chance of adding to their scoreline with a brilliant tight defence. Frustration set in for Milford constantly giving Celtic penalties, with Niki Crabtree on form kicking he soon added another penalty kick stretching their lead to 33 – 6. The only try of the game came in the 17th minute with Josh Brooke barging through the defenders to score under the sticks, MOM Niki Crabtree adding his 7th goal of the game 39 – 6.
