London Broncos insist that they are making progress with player signings from both this country and overseas, but that they are still waiting for visas and other paperwork to be put in place before they can announce any signings.
“We have some players lined up, but we don’t want to announce anything until we have visas organised, And the Christmas break has held us back with visa applications,” Broncos chief executive Gus Mackay told League Express.
“But we are trying to get a squad together as quickly as we can.”
The Broncos currently have about twelve players in training.
Meanwhile Mackay has revealed more details about the unusual nature of the club’s agreement to play at The Hive, the home of Barnet FC, for the next two seasons.
“The gate receipts and membership revenues, as well as all the income from the bars, will remain with Barnet. That’s how the deal has been structured, so we are working closely with them and we will get some information out this week to our supporters.
“Part of that is that we will be offering a membership rather than a season ticket, whereby supporters will pay a monthly amount and choose their seat, and there will be a whole lot of other benefits.
“The World Cup legacy is what we have to build on, and if we can attract some of the people who went from southeast England to Wembley, then we can be optimistic.”
