Match report: Penrith Panthers 2-18 South Sydney Rabbitohs

In a nutshell
Tries from Nathan Merritt, Kyle Turner and Kirisome Auva’a were enough to end South Sydney’s losing streak in a scrappy encounter. The Rabbitohs’ defence was superb – they made 321 tackles and missed just six.

How it unfolded
2’ – Adam Reynolds opens the South Sydney account with a penalty: 0-2.

31’ – Former London Broncos star Jamie Soward equalises with a penalty of his own: 2-2.

45’ – Sydney youngster Kirisome Auva’a scores a try on his debut via the video referee. Reynolds misses conversion: 2-6.

55’ – Winger Nathan Merritt goes over for another Rabbitohs try and, in the process, becomes the club’s all-time top scorer with 145 four-pointers. Reynolds adds the extras: 2-12.

71’ – Kyle Turner puts the icing on a solid Souths performance with a third try, which is again sent to the video referee. Reynolds converts: 2-18.
