Wigan Warriors’ big hitters to make it tonight

Wigan Warriors boss Shaun Wane has confirmed Matty Bowen, Josh Charnley and Sam Powell will all be fit to play tonight against St Helens, as his injury situation begins to ease off somewhat.

Bowen missed out last week, after suffering with a leg problem. But he is fit to take his place in Shaun Wane’s provisional line-up – providing there is no adverse reaction to the knock following Wigan’s final training session yesterday.

With Sean O’Loughlin and John Bateman amongst the returning stars, the Warriors look a much stronger beast than last week, when they lost out to Wakefield Trinity Wildcats. And Wane has lit the fire ahead of the massive derby, saying the game takes the context of a Grand Final each and every time the two sides lock horns.

He said: “I was relieved when they got through training because we were looking pretty busted earlier this week. The medical department have done a great job.”

“It’s like a Grand Final, to all the Wigan lads especially. This means everything. Saints are our arch-rivals. There are feeling between both clubs, we have mutual respect but we’re desperate to win.”
