  1. I think that's very true. I also find it easier to decide in advance what you are going to do as it takes the thinking about it away and you just automatically do it, for instance I know now that next week I am going to the gym Mon/Wed/Fri morning so I will just get up have breakfast and go.

  2. You just need to gain about 2 foot 6 in height. I'm having to stick to 1500 to get my weight down, 2000 for maintenance.

  3. I've never had wild salmon that way and I've caught alot of 'er. I love tuna steaks but I like all my fish open grilled with a spray of veggy oil and a light coating of Mrs Dash. I like her cooked over the open coals. If you ever take me upon my offer I'll grill ya a large very large fillet of fresh chinook salmon and a couple of elk steaks over the open coals for ya to eat...with a couple of three eggs and fried back bacon and some taters...fresh bread wioth dollops of nice good country butter. Thats just breakfast....you should see what I serve for supper! Hope you like pepper fried fresh catfish!....thats the best!

  4. Boxing this morning, and then my first ever vinyasa yoga session tonight. Full of women and hippies, the yoga not the boxing, but it was actually a nice way to wind the day down.

  5. Only 5 walks this week not the usual 6 but still managed to cover a respectable 31 miles. Weight same as last week at 10st 7lbs. I didn't retire from work until I was 70 and was that weight then, but since retirement I gradually put on weight up to 11st 10lbs. I decided to cut out alcohol and keep a close eye on what I ate and in 6 months I'm back down to my fighting weight and feeling great. I think the most important change was the alcohol abstinence, from being a 4 or 5 bottles of wine a week person to zero intake has not only helped me reduce weight but has also helped my overall fitness and general well being. I've also saved a few quid☺ which being a Yorkshireman is the most important thing.

  6. Glad to find this thread and apologies for being a bit long winded. After a spine injury 6 years ago that’s left my right lower leg and foot largely useless apart from the busted nerves giving me randomly varying levels of gyp from just plain hurting to puking I finally got approved for some bracing to help with mobility recently. All the time up to then being able to do less and less for my family and myself sent me to the darkest of places including a trip or two to the psych ward; walking and moving with difficulty, tripping up as the foot just flops about and I can’t feel it when it touches something. Been using a cane for the last three years, real dignity stripper that in your early forties and even worse when you faceplant in public. Going any sort of speed needed a weird gait to make up for what doesn’t work and was surprisingly knackering and harsh on the opposite hip & knee. Anyways, this brace is like night and day. Holds the leg and foot in the right position to be able to walk at least somewhat properly and stable enough to not need a cane. I didn’t care that it still hurt, I could walk and that first weekend having it I put 15kms on it walking the block and around the local mall. Such a simple thing but has opened up my life again. I can go further afield and without pavements; I can head out with the dog again. In time I may even be able to run on it if the spine can stand it, we’ll see. Social media was doing my head in so I deleted my accounts and I’m glad I did to be honest. For the first time in a long time there’s some optimism crept in, hope almost that I can claw my way back to somewhere I used to be without the constant comparisons, though it does feel good to share this modest bit of success of my own while reading others as well. I’ve been focused on losing weight since the start of the new year, using the WeightWatchers app of all things which has been really useful for tracking. Gone from 16st5 (229lbs) to 15st8 (218lbs) up to now with a goal of getting to 14st (196lbs). Being able to increase my activity without more difficulty, new problems or significantly worse pain is just ###### awesome.

  7. Quick rant .... some brainless cretin or cretins decided to deface war memorials in London . Especially the one to Bomber Command , who despite suffering horrendous losses and showing tremendous bravery in doing their duty were disgracefully marginalised for decades after the war . These kind of things make me physically sick . War memorials are about respect , remembrance and a somber reminder of what people went through and what war entails . I’d say these idiots have no sense or care of history and what these people went through for all of us , but obviously they just have no sense , brain or basic level of decency at all
