  1. Its annoying when you've shelled out £25 to watch a fight and then one fighter doesn't give himself a chance. As much as anything Hearn will know once bitten twice shy when it comes to fans and the money will not be there for a third fight.

  2. Joshua boxed a smart fight sure, but it might have been more of a contest had Ruiz not come in so heavy and had been able to cut the ring off more.

  4. That's a real shock. Whether you liked him or not (and he never tried to be endearing), the great memory of that vicious and prolonged stint at Headingley in 1981 just doesn't fade.

  6. They are a band I do need to go see. I had heard a few song by them, but a couple of weeks ago Ginger was in the Christmas Market Stall I was manning looking through the vintage music adverts (he didn't buy any this year). That day I decided to see if there was any new stuff from him and found shitloads.

  8. Good point . Be nice of him to tell us he could hardly be ar$ed rather than all the snake oil salesman stuff . He should get some money took off and refunded to us . 25 quid is a total disgrace anyway , pure greed

  9. His live act as Sir Les was quite a bit more filthy - I picked up the audio cassette of this show at a petrol station and, unlike most similar purchases, it was worth it! The video quality's a bit ropey, but it is still very funny.

  10. Did you see the face on his trainer though? Said it all . Saying he wants a third fight and I’ll train honest I will , sounded ridiculous

  12. Tbh there are still too many question marks around the first fight to draw any real conclusions. For me, it comes down to 2 questions. How prepared was AJ for the fight and how much was he affected by the third round punch. With the first, there are still persistent rumours about him being KOd in sparring - the reaction of his dad to Hearn does fuel these. Then there is potential complacency, more in underestimating and not treating the threat seriously than under-preparing. How affected was he by the Wilder victory the week before? Rather than focusing on winning, how much pressure did he feel on putting on an impressive performance. The second is a big one. He wasn't 100% but he was pretty comfortable before this. Had he not gone in for the kill was it just a matter of time before he lost? I don't think so. Ruiz is being painted as some huge hitter but his record suggests that he isn't some unstoppable force like Wilder. He's beaten better boxers, it could just as easily been Povetkin landing that shot or Whyte. That said, all that could be bunkum and Ruiz could just have his number.

  13. I can see why some would compare Bruno with Joshua as both have a fantastic bodybuilder physique, yet Frank was notorious for falling to bits when under sustained pressure. I think though Joshua showed something in the Klitschko fight were he got through some adversity to come back and claim victory in a way Bruno never could. Whether Joshua’s boxing style will suit fighting someone like Ruiz is an interesting question mark, but I hope for British boxing he can.

  14. Favourite Oldham shirt. The blue away version was also very good. Not long after, this train wreck of a kit enriched all our lives:- It looked even worse from behind:- So, to make amends, they came up with this huge improvement "Shirt from Hell 2" Kind of reflected how things at the club were going...

  16. This is the BEST GB shirt for me. Simple V, prominant. No silly psychodelic shapes and triangles veering off everywhere. Background white, no coloured sleeves. Lions badge, iconic to RL.

  17. Superb kits, great pictures. The traditional kits of all Clubs were good and instantly recognisable.

  18. Used to watch these with my mum who never watched rugby league in her life until Trafford Borough rocked up. I don't think she's seen a game since they shipped out either, This shirt no longer fits me very well. It must have shrunk in the wash. Still, it's my favourite shirt ever. It's hard to believe it must be 30 years old....

  19. I had one of those, gave to a young cousin from South Africa when it got too small, would love to have seen the reaction when he wore it to Rugby training?

  20. Two classic proper shirts there, both identify with only one club from any sport, how many of today's shirts can you say that about?

  23. yep agree with a previous poster, an age when cricketers were household names along with other stars of darts, snooker , football, rugby etc etc - sport has been so diluted and airbrushed by greedy tv channels to the point it just blends in to the bland now, eg. its the Mersey side derby tonight, would I be able to name a single everton player? erm no! prob wouldn't fare much better with the European champions and runaway leaders, Klopp, sala , mane...….. starting to struggle now

  24. I reckon you mean Henning Wehn?? Berg was the footballer. I've seen Henning Wehn a few times and, yes, he seems to have a habit of sitting around on his own both before and after performances. Excellent comedian who I hope to see a few more times yet!

  25. 167lbs this week, down 1.2 on last week, 62.8lbs overall. Was at the pool on Monday night, there was a snowstorm so not many folk had made it there, had a lane to myself and a fast guy on my inside. Chasing that ###### I got 40 lengths done in just under 30 minutes! Best yet and 15 minutes less for the same distance than when I started back 6 months ago. Been focusing on getting back running but perhaps I should change tack and focus more on the pool instead.
