As someone who described betting on a Wilder KO as 'buying money' I'm very happy to have been proven wrong last night. He dominated from start to finish and exposed Wilder's flaws pretty badly. It's not just the win but the manner of the win that will cement Fury's standing for years to come. He didn't only dethrone another champion in his own back yard, he did it by reinventing himself in a manner that pretty much everyone thought was suicidal.

I've been listening to the new album by Green Day, Father of All Motherf.... (can't type it out in full here, you can guess the rest). It doesn't take long... 10 tracks and barely 26 minutes in total, but I love it. A lot of other bands could benefit from such brevity, tbh. This is the title track below, which doesn't really sound that much like Green Day (some readers might regard as a good thing, I dunno) but the rest of the album is more recognisably them. And if they don't promote 'Oh Yeah!' and 'I Was a Teenage Teenager' as future singles (or whatever they do for single tracks these days) then they are fools.

Speculation has already begun around what the next fight will be. Everybody obviously wants AJ-Fury for undisputed but I suspect Wilder will go for the rematch. He might not want to but might feel it's his only option for the same reason AJ rematched Ruiz straight away. Let's face it, people aren't going to be falling over themselves to gift Wilder a title shot. He might be clumsy but he's still very dangerous.

if that's modern heavyweight boxing at its best you can keep it, a grapple and cuddle fest , one fighter with nothing to offer whatsoever against the great white dope, seen better fights in the playground, when the fight was stopped fury wasn't even connecting with anything meaningful , mike Tyson would have took them both on at the same time in his prime and laid them both clean out on the canvas

A boxing masterclass, simple as that. I thought he'd outpoint wilder but he beat him in every department. He didn't just beat him, he beat him up. The Tyson Fury we witnessed ladt night would beat any heavyweight today.

Wilder is bound to have some sort of rematch clause in there in the event of him losing. It seems pretty standard for current champions to do so.

Congratulations to Frank Bruno and the Guardian who both called it pretty well. Bruno even said that Fury would box Wilders ears off. I had assumed that Joshua would improve over the last few years, but that does not seem to be the case. There is Oleksandr Usyk, who can box, but is much smaller and older.

Wow , remind me never to doubt Tyson again . That was as near to physical assault in a ring as you’ll get , he completely battered him to pieces . Wilder looked like he could barely stand up after 4 rounds . Take away the punch and he had absolutely nothing , and just stood there taking it

Yes, think very few believed Fury would win in the manner that he won. Obviously the big question is Fury-Joshua and who would win that fight. Personally I’m delighted that we’ve got the ultimate “Battle of Britain” and that all the belts are now in our possession at this level. Edit: Just listening to Fury’s interview with BT and he’s talking about the contractural third fight with Wilder in the new Las Vegas Raiders American Football stadium.

Walking out of the theatre I persuaded one of the attendants to take down a poster for me. A £19 frame from IKEA and voila?

Pub lunch today and their special was pork belly with crackling. Now, 5 years ago, I'd have chosen that without thinking, but not now. 5 years ago, we went out to one of those chain restaurants and I ordered pork belly. It turned up and the fat on top was finely diced jelly. They'd just microwaved a frozen one rather than part-microwave and then grill to crispy. Sloppy, stinking gelatinous mess, oozing down the side of the food and all over the plate. The "manager" said "that's how you do pork belly, and that's how we always do it, no-one else has complained in the year we've served it." To this day, the thought of that jellied mess has put me off one of my favourite dishes and it winds me up every time I see it on the menu. ? p.s. that was the first time I really cottoned on that they microwaved the food from frozen in these places... that's another rant for another day though.
