  1. It was actually our 3rd biggest crowd of the season!

  2. Yesterday showed just why we need a new stadium, the crowd was slightly lower than what we usually get but the noise at times was deafening in that terrace, i even saw a comment on Facebook from someone complaining and saying 'someone turn the Huddersfield fans down', Sky commentary mentioned the atmosphere loads too, the same people sing like that at the JSS but you wouldn't know as you can't hear it in that place, yesterday it sounded marvellous, imagin how good it would be with 5-6,000 in a smaller ground every week?. Loved it yesterday, can't wait to leave the DogDome now!!!

  3. Was the referee as bad as those Bradford fans are saying? One of their gob almighties says he should never officiate again. AND he counted that you only took 30 fans. Thanks York for brightening up everybody's weekend.

  5. "In a bizarre situation, the rules imposed upon our club meant his loyalty and desire to not leave was to his detriment, and he was left in limbo for several months which was very a difficult situation for him," head coach Paul Rowley said. Rowley has really lost all the respect I originally had pre-2025

  6. All four debuted today cheered on by 8 others from school including both the head and the deputy head. Whilst they lost heavily they loved every second and learned so much - they’ve never played on grass before nor have they ever managed more than 7/8 a side in training. Next week aiming for at least 6 or 7 to get a game. also great that today these countries were represented playing RL: Nigeria Jamaica Sierra Leone and St Lucia. Genuinely the proudest day of my 30 years in the job

  7. Roarke wouldn’t have scored the try Jowitt did, wouldn’t have scored another Max had his hand in or make the 1 on 1s max did. I like Rourke and he is good on the high ball. Max is too but Max can pass and create space and run excellent lines on the edges. That was not our issue today. We were a little loose in defence at times allowing a bit too much post contact metre gains. There were a few key errors that put ourselves under pressure in the wrong positions. Also, I really rate Powell but Rourke unused on the bench today and leaving a forward out was silly. I said before the game we wouldn’t use him because it will be close. Bringing Hood on at 13 out of position and having 2 x 9s on the pitch when we were defending in our half was strange too. They targeted Hood who couldn’t quite get in position I thought for that last try. I just felt we could have been a touch more composed and smarter. Effort definitely not an issue this season. Imo Trinity are 2-3 quality players from being a real threat at the top end of SL. So many tight losses can easily be flipped if the club keep going as they are and keep adding to what’s the spine of a good young team.

  9. I felt that it was incredibly unfortunate that the squad was so beaten up for the 1895 semi final. A Wembley appearance would have been ideal to capitalise on the club's current momentum. It would do more good than winning the championship in terms of media coverage and local interest. I really feel the club should make a real effort in trying to get there soon. Other than that the club needs to continue doing what it's doing really, keep investing in the squad (maybe focus less on veteran players) keep the excellent social media output going etc. They could look at doing some "event" games such as the game against celtic in the pi keep kit a few years ago perhaps? The club is doing a lot very well right now, once people take a look they'll like what they see. The more the club can do to make people look the better.

  10. All clubs should have a view on what the 'right' size of stadium is for them. For Huddersfield and Wakefield the right size is clearly not a 25k capacity stadium, and having one is probably deterring supporters at Huddersfield rather than attracting them. Of course in settling for a small/er ground, any club is potentially risking being too small the next time we assess which clubs are worthy of Super League. I also think Wakefield are planning to grow so the reference to a 'Wakefield model' is a bit disingenuous.

  12. To tolerate is to accept: to accept is to condone: to condone is to encourage. The purpose of arm waving - generally accompanied by physical and audible expressions of disgust and contempt - is to redirect the officials’ attention, to suggest that the officials are missing something, to gain an unearned advantage; immediately with a six-again or a penalty; later with an altered perception by the officials. It’s rehearsed, encouraged by the coach, practised, perfected. The benefits are valuable. Those six-agains can turn a game or contribute to maintaining dominance. It may not be a total coincidence that the team that may be at the top of the arm-waving league is also the team at the top of the league table. It’s dissent, it’s offensive, it’s an attempt to highlight that the officials are not doing their job. It shows the sport in a poor light. It's not unlikely that it contributes to other levels of dissent. It probably contributes to spectator abuse of the officials. Perhaps it even reaches down to U14 level. It could be stopped completely within 15 minutes of the next round of fixtures, with an early released warning and few deserved penalties. Overstating my case, perhaps, but why isn't it stopped?

  13. Yeah, it simply confirmed everything we have all been saying on here for a good few years. The 8k stadium that Ken Davy is fighting for would be a perfect size and would help to attract more fans, both home and away. I could quickly see Huddersfield consistently getting 5k+ for the smaller games and 7k+ and pushing towards the 8k limit for the bigger games.

  15. You have to wonder how many kids drop out of our game due to some of the abuse they get from parents of the team they are playing. These people who abuse young kids from the touch line playing our game are total idiots, and they should be ashamed of their actions, but they are so dumb they probably can't see a problem

  19. woeful. again. no spirit. again. poor effort. again. was watching the players closely as they congregated under the posts after the tries during the 2nd half. not bothered. so consequently I'm done for this year I'm afraid. good luck and I hope things turn around but even though I emotionally detached myself from getting worked up (winning or losing) by watching Batley many many years ago after too many disappointments,I simply won't watch players who don't give a to$$. season too far by many of them.

  20. It's frustrating losing these tight games but more positives than negatives today IMO. Can't get away from seeing a club on the up and thinking that with average luck on the injury front next season could be very exciting. That said we're still only a point from the top 6 after Saints Salford so all to play for this year yet. Well done to Leigh too. Well structured and some great handling down the middle. Could have gone either way but no complaints.

  21. To be fair the players you signed from us have played at a higher level . But only callum and Jamie are championship class players the rest are grafters who give their all . Remember we struggled in championship last 3 seasons

  23. Yes they will be going to Wembley. Yes any positive role models are welcome. One of the lads is big into calisthenics even though he’s only in Year 9 and he’s already offered to help the other lads with it to improve their s and c. He’s a massive role model for the rest of them already.

  24. It was like a team just put together 5 minutes before kick off. Cannot remember a good performance in the home games. Nobody appeared interested or had any enthusiasm. Barging over to try and score, everyone flat when receiving the ball, half backs not taking a man on, no organisation, no attacking kicks on last tackle and a poor chase to these.

  25. Absolutely gutted, we gave everything today, players and fans so to lose it with 9 seconds left....it was up there with Tottenham 22 for me, bloody Wigan again!!! Thought we were superb today in every department and completely outplayed Wigan, who, in my eyes got some very favourable calls their way, most notably the 2 forward passes late on, the 2nd one he ran 3 steps and still nearly didn't catch up with the ball BUT ultimately we failed to make that last tackle and it cost us. Thought the atmosphere was great today and was commented on many times by Sky apparently, shows what a difference a smaller ground makes as we sing like that in the JSS but it just doesn't carry, it's made a lot of us realise our exit from the DogDome can't come soon enough.

  26. I was so disappointed after the game thot I immediately departed for home, not even acknowledging the players, let alone going to the Royal Suite; nor did I look at this forum until now. There’s little I can add: far too many dropped balls; when in possession it’s five barges and a kick; we pass to a standing player who is then immediately clattered by an opponent; even now when defending, we still dance with the ball carrier instead of going for the legs (I know, I keep going in about it). It was poor stuff and the coach has to take some blame, poor player selection and lack of tactics will not help us reach the top four at the regular season’s end. I made it 5-3 in our favour for the penalty count.

  28. I will blame the coach. Our first 3 visits to Goole ended like this on 6th tackle Hookem runs down blindside and gets tackled in possession. I don't think the rest of the team knew what he was doing. Not sure he did. More miscommunication and McShane runs from acting half and gets tackled in possession. Sykes throws a long pass into touch. Sound like a well-coached side? We never kick in opposition 20 on 6th tackle. We must be the only pro club not to do this. Like you say Goole put up two great high kicks. Any reason we can't? I don't know what's happening with Sam Day but despite being far and away the best hooker at the club, he's barely played. McShane seems untouchable despite offering nothing on attack and regularly giving away penalties. Either March has only one plan of trying to run over the opposition or he has more tactics and the team ignore them. When Shaw came on at 20-6 down and added some life at acting half, we actually started playing a bit more. It was the same against Crusaders in the first game when Sam Day was left on the bench for 60 minutes till we were 20-6 down. Talk about not learning. Think our tap penalty option sums it up. Every single time we do the same two passes to a forward in the middle. The Goole forwards were clearly aware of this and were there to smash the unlucky forward as we lost 5-10 metres. It's amateur stuff. And think most teams now know how weak Hookem is on defence. He contributed to two of their three tries. Rochdale did the same. Hookem spent last night in some pointless duel with Brett Ferres rather than focussing on the team. Errors can come from being fatigued from being under pressure. Even if you don't have the best players, you can be an organised team and play to a simple plan. Goole did. We just look disorganised and that's down to the coach.

  29. How single-minded do you think referees are if they would struggle to see a DH waving their arms in the air? It isn't like it's subtle, or that they are looking at another area of the pitch. You have also missed the point with your last paragraph, the point of this would be to penalise players doing it to stop them doing it in future, the idea would be that it wouldn't delay EVERY game going forward, just the first few under the new rules until players learn not to act like screaming toddlers at DH.

  30. We're all with you on the point about referees. We suffered today but accept that we just weren't good enough to break down a solid Crusaders defence. Can't blame the officials for that. Otherwise a great day out for us in Colwyn Bay. Thanks for the warm welcome and first rate burgers and hotdogs.

  32. One of those situations where technicalities and protocols end up with a ridiculous situation. Oceania has a fully pro-league but because they enter the Asian Champions League they can only qualify through that route. The end result: a semi-pro team called Auckland FC with crowds in the hundreds enter the World Club tournament when there is a full-time Auckland club with crowds of nearly 20,000 not eligible.

  33. The average SL crowd last season was 9,193. That is up there with most years that SL has existed and is certainly better than many. We have certainly not had years of 10k crowds. I'd expect with Wakefield replacing London that this year will be better again. If Huddersfield are averaging 7k in a more suitable stadium that is a much better result than we have now. Obviously 8k and sellouts like Hull KR would be even better. It is also a much better result for SL and brings the competition as a whole closer to averaging 5 figures. It also helps the perception of the league much more when it comes to TV viewers and sponsors than playing in a stadium 20% full. There is nothing wrong with being realistic about this. A modern stadium should tick most IMG boxes and 8k ain't a bad size, we arent talking about a 4 or 5k stadium here. If they start to fill it they can expand. If other clubs start to boost their crowds and overtake Huddersfield then so be it.

  35. I've been browsing the BTO website and found a section where you can enter your post code, it then brings up a list of birds that are doing well in your area and badly. From 1968-70 the BTO did a huge survey of all the birds in the UK, they then did another from 2007-11, that's how they put together this list of birds that are declining and increasing. When I enter my post code it brings up a 10 x 10km map grid, Fev(where I live) is at the very south of this grid, it also includes Pontefract and Castleford but stops short of Kippax, to the West it takes in part of Normanton and to the east it takes in Knottingley and Fairburn Ings. Below the map it shows 4 lists of breeding birds The first list is for birds that have disappeared from the area as breeding birds, they are. Tree Pipit, Dipper, Whinchat, Spotted Flycatcher, Rook, Corn Bunting, Lesser Redpoll. Then next list is of birds that have severely declined as breeding birds, they include. Grey Partridge, Little Ringed Plover, Snipe, Curlew, Redshank, Stock Dove, Turtle Dove, Cuckoo, Swift, Skylark, House Martin, Yellow Wagtail, Pied Wagtail, Dunnock, Song Thrush, Willow Warbler, Long Tailed ######, Coal ######, Jackdaw, Tree Sparrow, Yellow Hammer. The next list is birds that are new to the area, they are. Cormorant, Bittern, Grey Heron, Greylag Goose, Shelduck, Wigeon, Goosander, Goshawk, Sparrowhawk, Buzzard, Quail, Oystercatcher, Avocet, Common Tern, Rock Dove, Grey Wagtail, Redstart, Bearded ######, Hawfinch, Finally, the last list is birds that have increased rapidly. Mute Swan, Gadwall, Mallard, Tufted Duck, Moorhen, Coot, Black Headed Gull, Sand Martin, Robin, Mistle Thrush, Chiffchaff, Blue T, Great T, Goldfinch, Bullfinch. Just a reminder that these are lists for birds the have bred in the area.

  39. We were awful, we didn't complete sets, dropped numerous kicks and our defence was surprisingly poor at times, yeah we lacked players but that dosent stop you from holding onto the ball

  40. Absolutely let’s start penalisingit. Can I add another pet hate that’s creeping into the game. Players caught on the last tackle refusing to hand the ball over and even throwing it away rather than give it to the opposition. Just penalise it would be stopped in a round.
