Wonder who'd be left after the drawbridge is up after 5 years? SL clubs would be utterly sick of the sight of each other by then and fans would've lost interest. It's a ludicrous proposal.10 points

Would have been less but instead I decided to have a sly dig about them charging for a stream when their competitors do them for free.8 points

There seems to a recurring theme of clubs voting for something they either disagree with or don’t understand (or both) seemingly in the (usually correct) belief they can just change it later.5 points

Bingo! We got seven posts in before someone mentioned the size of the pitch. I think that's a record for posts about Bradford on this forum.5 points

Fax pretty much at full strength for this and also able to bring in George Whitby from Saints. Jack Hansen not in the squad so the only question is which half back partnership they go with, I would imagine it will be JWH/Whitby but it will depend on Whitby's actual availability. I'm going for Fax by 10.5 points

First-mover advantage is huge in televised sport in the social media era - most consumers are location agnostic, they don't care whether the league is in England, America or Australia, as long as it is the most elite version of the sport it represents and the experience is exciting We should look at this the other way around: What a brilliant way to get girls interested in rugby league in England... work hard and if you're good enough you can play Super League, and the best-of-the-best will have the chance to play in a fully pro comp in a warm country Collaborate, not compete. We'd be far better off establishing proactive pathways into NRLW5 points

I'm always amazed that certain gullible people see Nigel Wood as the answer to the games problems.4 points

How could they be, theyve signed them without knowing they’re in SL next year4 points

I have to say this is astonishingly arrogant after the embarrassing story Callum Walker put out on your website yesterday.4 points

I was looking for some info on this site but just found reporting on a weird poll where readers were asked how many people they thought would show up for the first Test.4 points

Well after your start to the season and how we got the rare away win against you for it to come down to playing us at Odsal in the play offs is a massive turn around and achievement. taking nothing away from Sunday you was the better team for 70 minutes but we have a lot of players coming back this Friday and we must start faster. You lot are definitely doing it hard at the moment and seem to have come short when playing the so called bigger teams. i think with the players coming back and your injuries and suspension we should be to strong but it can be a strange game at times specially when it’s a back to back game like this one. whatever happens Friday good luck in the offseason and next year If you win then good luck in the plays offs hope for a big Friday crowd and a better game of rugby than Sunday was3 points

Do not worry. The standards under the new regime will likely be very high. Why would Lockyer (and the billionaire )want to buy, promote or be involved a poor product or even a repeat of the Hugh’s era? Poor decisions will hopefully be a thing of the past. COYB!!!3 points

There is no NRL proposal for "significant financial and strategic investment from the NRL." PVL/Abdo was asked when all this first blew up and it was clear then that nothing like that was seriously in the works, everyone was just getting carried away.3 points

That was before the IMG process had started, which was in reaction to the broadcast income drop and the direction the game was going.3 points

I was thinking that while going to sit in the Railway stand before the Oldham game.I suppose the excuse will be it is a source of income.Don't see it at other grounds, couldn't we use some of the money from WDC to do repair work to the standing terrace, tarmac the car park and sort our behind the railway stand.Could have it boarded off and painted with murals ,much better than a scrap yard.3 points

You're right on several points, but community marketing (whilst it has a role) is the equivalent of taking horse cavalry into WW2. Paid media is also a bit of a red herring. If Peter Deakin were alive today, he wouldn't be doing that he'd be doing content-led, short-clip, network-led social media marketing. Mainly organic, supported with inorganic paid activations. That's where the long-run filming something like thus can play a role. It enables you to have a rich mix of in-game and out-game content, to use across lots of platforms. Just because it's a documentary, doesn't mean it has the same goals as Welcome to Wrexham. If it finds an audience in Australia off the back of Lockyer's profile that may generate value (commercial revenue, attract investors, engage the NRL ecosystem with SL), which is one ROI justification, and in the process you have another content engine for local deployment for the London audience-creation objective Don't make the mistake of fighting the last war, this isn't Bradford in 1995 or Saracens in 19983 points

Some realism needed. London are at a low ebb. Established SL sides can't even attract current superstars. Yes he may not get people queueing up to watch him, but there is rationale behind his signing. London do need an experienced pack in SL. Any signing from down under comes with an element of risk, and question marks over whether RCG is past it and just coming for the holiday or whether he'll turn into a Paul Vaughan signing. Time will tell. RCG going will also raise the profile over in OZ/NZ and perhaps help with others coming on board. Let's see who else they have lined up before being too critical3 points

Some of the biggest growth in super league has come from so called “unfashionable” clubs like Leigh and Wakefield as well as hull kr who not long ago had their own struggles both on and off the pitch and would have been lumped in with your Leighs and Wakefields etc.3 points

I thought it was pretty clear thay my comment was light hearted. Anyway, on point. Watkins has had a great career and he is doing a good job for Leeds but we have much better options at 13.3 points

Just as a minor point on this, welcome to Wrexham was not filmed to aim at the people from Wrexham or even with the sole purpose of getting more bums on seats at the racecourse ground. It was to get eyes on the team so more sponsorship and investment could come into the team and club, something it has done very well...as well as getting people intrigued so that they go from all over not just Wrexham to watch the matches. Now I have no belief this will do the same as it's hardly going to be on Disney or have the names to make it "intriguing" to those outside the sport. But if they also release in Australia maybe it will have some bump in awareness etc and maybe just maybe help some more investment.. It's unlikely, but it's not going to have a negative effect and it's not likely to distract from anything else they are doing so why not? It can only really be a positive.3 points

I'll say one thing that I don't think many will disagree with: our in-season signings this year (Hampshire, Wilde and Glover) have been a lot better than last season (Eden, Patton, Kibula etc).3 points

Why would being NRL Europe get us a better deal (or share of a deal)? Would it start a bidding war in Australia for UK rights? I doubt it. And it won't boost the UK media rights just by a name change. The answer is the same as it ever was, which is to do the hard work of doing a bunch of things around the presentation of clubs, players and events that boost the interest in rugby league across the UK and beyond. This is a process we started and I hope, despite the recent unheval, are ultimately going to continue with3 points

The only benefit I see of including London and Toulouse in a reduced ten team competition, it means a likely addition of some strong and famous names to give the Championship a boost, but I don’t think that outweighs the negative outcomes which I expect reducing the competition to 10 teams to deliver.3 points

I think Liverpool City played in green hoops in the UK way back. Of course Ireland RU could have been repurposed for Canberra Raiders which would be pretty good for Widnes of yesteryear!2 points

The club needs to sort it self out, cut costs and run with a team which can be afforded. This has been an issue for well over a year and predates Paddy’s involvement.2 points
