  2. 28-8 full time, well we did have a proper dig and were by no means overwhelmed, we got into good positions umpteen times but the absence of half backs was painfully obvious, hard though the guys playing out of position tried. Such a shame about the disallowed try as that would have been our best "team" try of the season (with Rocky's at Donny the best individual one). Got to love the spirit of this team, we battled away for 80 minutes under hugely diffcult circumstances, really hope we can keep the nucleus of the squad as next season should be fun under Cookey.

  3. The best team over the year has won the LLS. It is a scandalously under appreciated trophy, but I think it’s a major one. HKR are well deserved winners, especially having won the cup. The future looks very bright indeed for them.

  4. That's what happens when you have a decent side but get above yourselves and sign a load of expensive superleague rejects and destroy your team. Fax put 100% in, did the basics very well and played as a team. They didn't have to do anything else because Oldham were absolutely terrible. Lesson to be learnt. You don't just buy success, you build a team over time.

  7. I agree with you that it deserves more recognition. Yes, the Grand Final is the big one and the team that wins it are the champions. That's just the league structure we have. The regular season is essentially a big qualifying group to determine playoff positions, and the teams that are used to winning it are able to time their push to be at their best for the playoffs (see Wigan this year). Nobody in the NFL says, well, team x might have won the Superbowl, team y were number 1 seed so they are the true champions. That said, being consistently the best team over 27 rounds is no mean feat. I don't like when the LLS is dismissed as "the hubcap" or whatever (admittedly I have used the term myself to wind up Rovers supporting friends, but I don't mean it). Even if Rovers do crumble in the playoffs like many of us suspect they might, their fans can rightly be very proud of what their team has done, and they have every right to celebrate coming top. It's a really exciting time for RL in Hull. Rovers have shown they weren't just a flash in the pan, and whilst they have a few hurdles to overcome in the coming years when this team inevitably starts to break up, I think they are a really well run club and will be around the top table for a good while. Meanwhile, at Hull FC we finally seem to have our act together off the field and are putting everything in place to be a real force again. The improvement we showed this year from the embarrassment that was 2024 was way beyond what we could have expected, and we continue to build for next season and beyond. I think both clubs could be right at the top of the game for the next few years.

  8. Congrats to Hull KR. Credit where it's due, over the course of the season they have clearly been the best team. I do think they have paced it all wrong and will struggle in the playoffs. But hey, a CC and LLS is a great season by anyone's standards. And who knows, maybe they will be able to dig deep and find a second wind.

  9. Whilst I cant see any of the playoff contenders quaking in their boots at the prospect of playing us, I am over the moon. LLS and Challenge Cup in a season is an amazing achievement for us.

  10. I think he deserves a pay rise if anything. I were pretty confident before this game but didn't see that scoreline coming. We are pretty lucky to hit the business end of the season with just about a full squad available and as my opinion at the start of the season, our starting 17 is as good as anyone's in the league. I remember a similar feeling in 2010 and I really would not be surprised if we won it all. That said playing York at theirs with their unbeaten run and a final on the line is as tough ask as it comes and if we get through that then we really do deserve that spot in the final. It should be a really good game on a pitch that really suits how we play.

  11. So just got home, firstly well done Halifax, you’ve absolutely peaked at the right time. Amazing job and also shout out to your fans for coming out & outsinging the Yeds faithful which may be a first. Secondly, signing players works when you have a need. Oldham were ravaged with injuries mid-season and brought in players to solve that need. Sadly signing the Salford lads in the last quarter of the season, as good as they are, will likely be looked at as the point where the season went off the rails. Leaving healthy players who had played their hearts out early in the season in the stands just felt wrong and seemed to really disrupt the team. But from 300 fans at White Bank with a budget of a half eaten bag of pork scratchings 2.5 years ago to 2,600 fans at Boundary Park following a 4th placed finish. Honestly Fax could have scored 100 and I’d still be happy with this season.

  12. Difficult start and a difficult end to the season. With all that adversity I think that all those players that have been forced into different positions deserve a lot of credit. Firstly for achieving a play off position from a nightmare start to the season and dare I say if we had kept our half backs on the field we would have been too hot to handle, but that we will never know now. Personally I think we have got the right coaching team to take us forward.

  13. Could be Paul Rowley’s best job application this. Every big match we’ve blown it. Davies is having a mare. PLT is no more a winger than I am. Left edge defence is abysmal. Needed a coach who can make hard decisions- if he prefers Brierly at fb then don’t shoe horn PLT into a position where he’s going to be schooled. Johnson would have been a better fit. Credit Fax so far though. Giving us a real lesson. Ref’s been outstanding too. Oldham’s attacking moves - and I use the word loosely- have been shocking. Playing for pride now.

  14. Mainly a lurker on here. It always interesting to see others views of your team (HKR) from afar. But today I thought I'd add in my 2peneth from what has been an amazing season for us. In all my 40+ years I never thought I'd see the day we would top the league after 27 rounds (or in old money win the league!). Whilst we look like we are running out of steam to make the GF it shouldn't detract from what a season it has been. The work the club, the board, the staff, the players, the fans have put in, firstly to get us up to standard to get in to SL, and then more recently to bounce back and push to where we are is remarkable. Hopefully this can be a sustained period of success with more silverware sprinkled in during the coming years. One final note before I probably go back into lurker mode - the comments on here re the fans shouting 'forward' and booing other players etc etc, to think this only happens at CP or from Rovers fans is odd to say the least. It may come across louder due to the size and nature of the fans in the East Stand, but every ground I've been to has the same response from a section of all fans! You're kidding yourself to think otherwise. Glad I got that off my chest Anyway, time for a week or so off to recharge my supporter batteries before a tilt at the GF, god knows I need it after crawling to the finish line. UTR

  15. Well it was a much better effort than I anticipated from a depleted Wire side. The future looks bright for us if we can keep our young players together and they can become the backbone of the side for the next decade, like Leeds did with Sinfield, McGuire,Burrow etc. Well done to Rovers on winning the shield, they have been the most consistent side and deserve it. Personally I didn’t think they deserved to beat us at Wembley, I thought we were the better side that day, but there’s no doubt that they deserve the shield. I don’t think they will win the GF, their best performances look to be behind them, but we’ll see. It was quite funny to see the Rovers fans in stunned silence and saying prayers at points throughout the match, I don’t think I’ve seen them like that all season! Rovers fans, support your team by all means but maybe tone it down with the chanting ‘cheat’ when an opponent is down injured, try not to shout for a forward pass when an opposing player sells a dummy, and cut out the booing because every single decision doesn’t go in your favour and you’d be a decent fan base! I well remember when the saints fans used to shout ‘ forward’ for every pass an opposing player used to throw at Knowsley Road, even if it had travelled 10 yards backwards! That used to be truly embarrassing and I wouldn’t like to see Craven Park end up being known for similar chants. Being passionate about your support is one thing but sheer stupidity is something else! Well done once again on winning the LLS.

  18. Halifax were excellent tonight executing a simple game plan that absolutely murdered us - run straight & hard & tackle hard. We’ve limped into the playoffs with unconvincing wins & our attack has got worse as the season has gone on & our defence tonight was woeful. I’ve said before that I hope our recruitment for next season is based on signing the best Championship players & not more ex-SL players. We lack attitude & aggression in the forwards, catching the ball standing still, & running at an angle. What on paper has been a successful season has left me feeling really disappointed but can’t wait for next season to start. Good luck to Halifax, I think they’ll give York a fright.

  20. Which one? There was one that disappeared on the BWV page, but that might easily have been deleted by the author, and there's another thread on the same page that's been up for a couple of days. As a fan, I'm concerned about our financial situation, as a lot of us will be, the club was fairly open about it at the fans' forum earlier this year. But I don't really want the club to publicise every negative financial situation it might find itself in, I don't see any upside in that and plenty of downside.

  22. Yeah I'm not a fan of that at all. Plus, it doesn't even make sense: Two of the titles we're claiming as equivalent, were actually when we won the "Grand Final" having not finished top of the ladder. We can't have it both ways. That said, I've long said the LLS needs to be celebrated more vocally (long before I ever thought it would be something we'd do), so maybe it's a good thing if Hull KR over-egging it stimulates a larger conversation about that!!

  23. This is the part I've really found off to be honest. He's not got enough support for what he believes should be done so is now leaking to the press (to someone who appears more than willing to stick the knife into the sport) At least front up and put your name to it. Interesting Phil Caplans latest tweet, which looks like a small extract from an article on his magazine "Senior business executives at current long-term partners Sky were kept informed of the potential increase to 14 clubs even if the talent on the ground weren’t and discussions with them have already begun about renegotiation" Now I don't have the full article so don't have the full context. But again it goes gainst "sky have been blind sided, don't want it etc" that's been thrown about in the public domain

  25. Like a marathon runner who staggers over the line with someone running quickly behind them, the only thing that counts is who gets there first not how you pace it. What a season, I’m not sure I ever really believed Hull KR could ever finish top of the league again. Cup win, yes, you can do that with 4 or 5 good performances. But topping the league, that takes 27 weeks of commitment to excellence. I don’t think we have it in us to go further this season, I’ve thought that for 2 months and surely anybody who watched that match last night knows it now too. But that’s OK, I’m going to enjoy this for what it is, which honestly is something amazing. We’ve ticked that off now. Next season we can think about timing, phasing the season, peaking at the right time for a Grand Final tilt the way Wigan know how to do. etc etc. There’s the future to do all that in. One lesson at a time. But for now, what a year this has been.

  28. If he was sacked before the game then he deserves a place on Corrie because that was some fine acting. For all his faults, mainly surrounding picking team by “rep” as opposed to by who is hungry, he’s done well and deserves at least another year.

  29. Honestly that was miserable, outplayed the whole time, felt like that sorry period when we had a load of injuries and Craven was on the wing. Individually the Salford lads have done ok but just feels like too many compromises made to get them in the first XIII. Even worse - the Halifax fans were louder than us even before they scored. But we would have taken 4th at the start of the season. Just hope BQ and MF still have faith in the project. We showed tonight that we can turn up in numbers and more will come.

  32. I can't imagine Oldham will be getting much extra support next season after another humbling like tonight when hopes and expectations were so high, and the players then thought turning up was good enough. The club keep asking supporters to bring friends and whatnot, and then perform like they are playing in a park where the result and performance hardly matters! Something has gone very wrong at Oldham with performances like this one.

  33. Two things...squads were named prior to yesterday, so won't be changed from the full strength selection made by Wakey...also, following the disruption to momentum caused by the mid-season break and then the non-fulfilment of a previous fixture by SRD, Wakey will want to be having a settled, battle-ready side going into the play-offs.

  34. This is the London Broncos extract from a programme on Channel 9 (Queensland - Hence Wally Lewis). The rest of the programme is devoted to the four Queensland teams. KIA are the shirt sponsors of Surrey County Cricket Club, whether they would be interested in the London Brponcos vdepends on whether or not London are in Super League 2026. As may a lot of other commercial opportunities. Super League status also influences recruitment, I suspect there are two lists the consiortium are working to List A is pre-contract based upon Super League , List B are players better suited to the Championship. I would not expect to see anything concrete about players until after 16th October. I suspect when the truth cones out, that planning for this has been going on for some time, so some of the rumours that have appeared in the press have been kind of warm but not hot e.g. Dolphins and Brisbane Broncos formal involvement. Though Darren Lockyer remains on the Brisbane Broncos board there is no formal link between the clubs, though it might help with recruitment and stories such as the Broncos interest in Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad might have reflected an informal conversation that leaked out. There was never an intention not to give Mike Eccles a role in the club nor is the absence of any reference to London Broncos women in comms signify any future lack of support.. What is clear is that the consortium has understood that to be successful the club needs to, in the words of Ian Lenargan, "wash it's facen so they are creating a team off the field to maximise non-matchday and non TV contract revenue generation and in doing so make the club a viable entity. This is a marked difference from the Brewster Millions approach of recent years and for those who cannot recall the 1985 Richard Pryor clasic this film was all about a challenge to spend $ 30 million as soon as possible without acquiring assets which sums up why the club ended up the way it did. As for whether London should be in Super League in 2026, I look at it this way if your going to determine membership in an elite competition on the basis of it not scoring enough points against pre-set criteria as opposed to on-field performance and thus relegate a side before a season begins. Then you really cannot complain if the same criteria are used to promote this relegated iside who finished 10th in the league below. A concept difficult to explain to outsiders but in many ways so rugby league. Whatever decision is made on 16th October, there remins a lot to do in a short time before the new season and I would expect a fan forum when the consortium partners are back in the UK just before the Ashes start at Wembley. Finally to paraphrase an exchange of views that took place in a forum in The Cabbage Patch pub beck in 2007 IIRC if I was asked if there was any "realistic" prospect of sucess in building a London Rugby League club my respose would be that if I did not think you could not establilsh a Rugby League club in the south then I would not be bothered with the sport in the Northern Hemisphere.

  37. Out of interest, where has the club tried to suppress information? If the club is struggling to pay bills at the moment, I'm not sure that going public with that would be net beneficial - it would immediately lead to a string of negative stories by the RL journalists (as others have said, I'm surprised this thread hasn't alerted them, though there's still time), that's not going to help in terms of attracting sponsors etc.

  38. The latest edition of ‘fevnut’s musings’. We write about going to the Bradford match and explain why we left early and why we will never go to Odsal again unless there are some drastic changes. With play-offs about to begin we look back at some of Fev’s history in the play-offs and the record of the current 6 participants in making it to the Championship Play-offs. Finally we celebrate the wonderful achievement of the Featherstone Rovers Foundation in obtaining a blue plaque to mark Fev’s relationship to the community and look forward to seeing it displayed which we hope will be on the Freddie Miller Gate. 43. wow thats a lot of hard work and effort you have just put in to say very very little and absolutely nothing that equates to a "response" to my post. None of this is a zero sum, its not a case of do the documentary OR set up a junior network OR do some local marketing to get people in. No one has any idea how much money they are prepared to spend so all you words make little difference. I am fully aware of the work that has to be done, I have been involved, I have known many people involved (including some heavily involved in some of the rebrands), i still talk to people now involved on the ground. There is a lot to be done yes but again that has nothing to do with what was being spoken about around the documentary. There is a chance to have game changing money involved if thats what they are looking to invest, we dont know yet, but you go ahead an poopoo it if you like thats your prerogative. If doing something like this ALONG with other things around the game day and making people more aware of the club can help bring eyes on the club then that can bring more investment, interest, organic PR and bums on seats then I really do not see how that can be seen as a bad thing. The key, once again, is that THIS IS NOT A ZERO SUM GAME (if it were, again, I would agree with you).
