Salford fan here- just wanted to say thank you for the support we have been given by most of the other super league clubs through this very difficult season. Last night Wakefield were amazing, never thought I would ever hear another club chanting our name in support. Wishing you lots of luck in the playoffs and think your club have a very bright future over the next few years. Also, Wigan away at the beginning of the season and Warrington away are both games that we will remember for the support you gave not just to the supporters but also our young players. We would never have made it to the end of the season without Paul Rowley. His positivity over the past few months just shows the character of the man and the young players on loan from clubs throughout super league have bought into it. Only the s in charge know what is going to happen next but we want them out now. I would rather watch a semi-pro or amateur team than have them involved. Would have loved to have seen their faces when confronted by Adrian Morley in their box last night.10 points

Haven't seen it mentioned but with Field not scoring last night, Lewis Martin is confirmed as the 2025 Super League top try scorer. Huge achievement for a kid who only turned 21 a month or so ago. 25 tries in 27 games, and having watched him all year I can say that not too many of them were walk ins. He also scored two hat tricks in the cup including a very memorable one at Wigan. His name has been mentioned as a possible outsider for the Ashes. I think Wane will go with more experienced options, and I think that's probably the right call. However, if he doesn't get an England cap in the next couple of years I would be shocked. He has it all.8 points

So just got home, firstly well done Halifax, you’ve absolutely peaked at the right time. Amazing job and also shout out to your fans for coming out & outsinging the Yeds faithful which may be a first. Secondly, signing players works when you have a need. Oldham were ravaged with injuries mid-season and brought in players to solve that need. Sadly signing the Salford lads in the last quarter of the season, as good as they are, will likely be looked at as the point where the season went off the rails. Leaving healthy players who had played their hearts out early in the season in the stands just felt wrong and seemed to really disrupt the team. But from 300 fans at White Bank with a budget of a half eaten bag of pork scratchings 2.5 years ago to 2,600 fans at Boundary Park following a 4th placed finish. Honestly Fax could have scored 100 and I’d still be happy with this season.8 points

I think an old head assistant who knows his way round the championship would be a good thing. Another salient point is that the goalposts moved considerably for this season. We went all in to start well and get established and away from relegation and then the Super League thing turned up and we have to be great around play off time. Not sure the two things are that easy to achieve with our type of squad. That led us to a revolving door of players, including six stand offs by my count, so you get to the end with a team of individuals, but no cohesion. Is that down to the abilities of the coach or the demands of the club? What can be placed a the coach's door is last night's selection of three forwards who haven't played in six weeks or more. Asking for trouble there. On the other hand the last two seasons have been the most enjoyable in over thirty years. Let's crack on.7 points

Agree with everything that's already been said. Dreadful display and another disastrous night for a big game. There's been something off behind the scenes for the majority of the season and I think our performances have shown that especially when it's mattered we've been terrible. Fax were outstanding and fully deserve their win. Nofoaluma, Whitby and O'Brien were absolutely superb. Can't see how the coach survives this. He's been given absolutely everything he's asked for and we've gotten worse the longer the season has gone on. Our attack has been very poor since the mid season break after Hunslet away and even defence which has been excellent has finally caved in as well. Need some honest conversions with the older players and find out if they are capable of playing to that intensity which Halifax did. They were aggressive all night whilst we were powderpuff apart from the first 5 mins. A terrible end to a good season.7 points

There definitely seems to be an issue in "big games" which given the experience in the squad seems strange, but the 2 biggest opportunities to really make an impact on casual fans have been comprehensively blown. Close defeats in an exciting game wouldn't have been so bad but this game and the semi against fev have been abject. I wouldn't be surprised if Sean longs future doesn't come up for discussion between Mike and Bill in the near future, not saying the should sack him or that he necessarily deserves it, i think 4th should be seen as a success in its own right, but their are better coaches out there IMO and if we can get one i personally think we should. Also I feel like we recruited to much throughout the season, I personally hate clubs signing players 3/4 through the season anyway and think it should be stopped throughout the game, felt like a completely different squad to the one that started the season and I dont think all the changes in personnel made us any better, less cohesive if anything. Anyway disappointing but overall a good season and definitely something to improve upon and hopefully this feeling motivates everyone at the club to go further next year and hopefully get some silverware! Enjoy the off season everyone7 points

No, it wasnt a knock on from Addy. He dropped the ball and caught it before it hit the ground. But viewers of the live stream must have been utterly confused as you were trying to tell them that the officials had finally come round to your view that there was a knock on the half way line - as the officials awarded a penalty deep inside the Bradford half. The try was disallowed because of the incident between O'Connor and Holmes, it was nothing to do with the Addy incident. Sadly you were too occupied with trying to claim that the referee had "lost control" because there was a brief flare-up...yet another example of your wilful impulsive need to castigate the officials when they had done nothing wrong. This happens over and over again when you are commentating, ie accusing the officials of "losing control", it's no wonder there is such a lack of respect for referees with such a poor example being set by a commentator.6 points

Mick as far as I am concerned it is very apparent that you detest Halifax RLFC. I was in attendance at the game last night as I have been for 90% of the games this year. The Halifax players played out of their skins last night with tons of visible desire on show. The supposed Sean Long scenario meant nothing to them. The will to win would have been there no matter what. York will be a fresh and difficult proposition and may the best team on the day win. Something along the lines of hats off to Fax for that outstanding performance would have been great. But no you can’t resist inferring that Fax only won due to any possible Sean Long shenanigans.6 points

Well the way your season started no one would have put you as a play off team plus a Wembley final inbetween too. game started pretty much like last week cagey you taking the 2 on offer think the team you had out that played there heart out always seemed we’d get a lead and never look back. but you never threw in the towel honestly all the best in the off-season and whatever happening in the background hope it gets sorted all the best and I think if Cooke gets who he wants and builds the team he wants be a very strong team again6 points

That's what happens when you have a decent side but get above yourselves and sign a load of expensive superleague rejects and destroy your team. Fax put 100% in, did the basics very well and played as a team. They didn't have to do anything else because Oldham were absolutely terrible. Lesson to be learnt. You don't just buy success, you build a team over time.6 points

Oldham were poor but hats off to Halifax they were on it from min 1 to min 80.i looked at the clock at the 75th minute and their defence was still hard and still driving oldham players back, whitby kicked us to death and he will be in saints 1st team very soon, very skilful and stood out.fax owed us one and they did a job on us.finished 4th after promotion i will take that but poor end to the season.5 points

Good interview with Matty Wildie, credit to him, on social media.(A courageous one from SL too, fair play to him.) MW very honestly nails the problem last night and elsewhere- the first bit of adversity (eg Fax’s first try after our blistering start) and as a team we crumble. We just didn’t seem to know what to do, which considering we have such experience and class as Milner, JD, etc is very disappointing, and worrying. Where did the stupid kicks early in the tackle count come from? We didn’t lose the plot; we didn’t seem even to have one. As has been said, an influx of players possibly without regard to how/where they’d fit in the team (Nene Mc for example) - perhaps publicising the club (understandably) took precedence over organically building the team. Playing two full backs - one inexperienced one out on the wing - which Halifax exploited mercilessly. All contributory factors. I’m certain BQ/MF, with better rugby league and business experience than mine will be having a rigorous post mortem. Wether Sean (and J Wardle) are the men to push us (and sustain us) up the necessary few years is something they’ll surely be discussing. Sad end to the roller coaster ride…this time round… but it’s been a heck of a journey. And who knows, longer term it might be a blessing in disguise, if we learn and grow ftom it.5 points

That was hard to take last night. Oldham just didn't compete after first 5 minutes or so. Outclassed in all departments. Too many ex Super League players topping up their pensions and not putting it in. Some of whom are regrettably contracted for next season. Do feel Longy has taken us as far as he is capable of doing. If rumours are correct about Rowley - it would be a good appointment. Gutted the season ended on such a whimper. A few players need to take a long hard look at themselves and critically asses their own performance last night - just not acceptable in my view.5 points

First of all - well played Fax, and good luck in the next round. Head and shoulders above us! They were physically fitter, stronger and faster than us. They played with intensity and they wanted it! Secondly - how bloody dreadful were we?! Defensively like statues, no line movement at all - just standing there waiting for them to run at us! Absolutely no idea with the ball, no line out, awful from play the ball - and if in doubt, kick it! …..as has been the case for the past few months. Yes we have come far in the last two years - and yes we should be proud and thankful for what Bill and Mike have done - but that was bloody dreadful, and the buck has to stop with the coach! Ask yourself one question - with all the investment, have we improved during the season? - and the answer is a resounding no!5 points

If you listened to my interview with the RFL you will know that Sky Sports are backing the 14-team expansion and with the return of the Super 8s (tweaks expected) to decide promotion and relegation on the field, they know they'll get increased value from their broadcast contract. People need to stop reading the clickbait drivel and nonsense that's flying around.4 points

It’s not even that hard to draw a tiger, use a stock image for inspiration by all means but don’t actually use a stock image as a logo for a brand that sells merchandise with the logo on. Really poor cost cutting effort from a supposed elite sports club.4 points

Why do people constantly say this, like it is different for any city in this country. Every city in this country is a football city. Imagine having access to millions of people and thinking, nah they only like football.4 points

The front facing Tiger would have been ok if they hadn't just downloaded a stock image from Shuttershock. The 'Roman' shield is ok. The colour is good. The font is a touch blocky but ok. The vertical stripes ruin it. They have nothing to do with the 1986 kit at all, and they make it look like a Hull City FC badge that's been run through AI.4 points

I was really angry on the way home last night - in fact I was pretty angry after 20 minutes! - mainly that, for whatever reason, the players were miles short of doing themselves justice. Taking a slightly cooler look at the season on Saturday morning, there have certainly been 2025 highs, such as the freak early performance v York, to put on the positive side of the ledger. And to finish 4th, the season after top of League One, to increase attendances as we have, and to have what has seemed to be a really together and genuinely committed bunch of players, have all been real achievements, on top of the off-field progress made by the club as a whole. But the other side of the ledger cannot be ignored. We have twice been outclassed by both Bradford and Toulouse, and in the two biggest games of the season, we have grossly under-performed. The main quality of a really top-class coach, to me, is the ability to get his side at their best in the biggest games. On this measure, clearly our current coach has failed pretty miserably. So, sadly, if we are to make further progress, I am afraid it has to be a 'thanks but goodbye' to Sean Long.4 points

It feels such a shame that we have no in-season rep games to test these kinds of player out in a different environment. Going straight from SL to an Ashes series feels unlikely.4 points

I think he deserves a pay rise if anything. I were pretty confident before this game but didn't see that scoreline coming. We are pretty lucky to hit the business end of the season with just about a full squad available and as my opinion at the start of the season, our starting 17 is as good as anyone's in the league. I remember a similar feeling in 2010 and I really would not be surprised if we won it all. That said playing York at theirs with their unbeaten run and a final on the line is as tough ask as it comes and if we get through that then we really do deserve that spot in the final. It should be a really good game on a pitch that really suits how we play.4 points

Difficult start and a difficult end to the season. With all that adversity I think that all those players that have been forced into different positions deserve a lot of credit. Firstly for achieving a play off position from a nightmare start to the season and dare I say if we had kept our half backs on the field we would have been too hot to handle, but that we will never know now. Personally I think we have got the right coaching team to take us forward.4 points

Halifax were excellent tonight executing a simple game plan that absolutely murdered us - run straight & hard & tackle hard. We’ve limped into the playoffs with unconvincing wins & our attack has got worse as the season has gone on & our defence tonight was woeful. I’ve said before that I hope our recruitment for next season is based on signing the best Championship players & not more ex-SL players. We lack attitude & aggression in the forwards, catching the ball standing still, & running at an angle. What on paper has been a successful season has left me feeling really disappointed but can’t wait for next season to start. Good luck to Halifax, I think they’ll give York a fright.4 points

It will be with tweaks. It won't feature eight teams for starters but they'll be some jeopardy for the bottom two in Super League playing the top two in the Championship etc. Hence why Oldham and York are spending for next season. IF they don’t make it to Super League next month, they know they can do so on the field in 2026. The same applies to London, who knows they are in jeopardy of not just being picked up and promoted. The finer details will emerge next month.3 points

Very proud of Fax's performances throughout most of 2025, but especially last night. They were dominant in defence, clinical in attack, and gave away few penalties. Whitby's kicking game was outstanding. Eastmond has a big future as a coach.3 points

Well at least they modyfied it a little bit. I hope the designer told them and didn't charge too much. It’s also quite dodgy using stock images as a proper brand which you then sell merchandise with it on unless you’ve bought the proper rights to do so. edited to add it’s not quite dodgy its totally against Shutterstocks T&Cs3 points

Well done Fax. Very glad we avoided playing you this week. On Oldham, I think a 4th place finish and an 1895 semi final is a pretty decent return to the champ. Big spenders have had far worse seasons. Maybe just signed a few too many players as the season went on but they're a club on the up which is great to see.3 points

Congratulations to Fax. Battered us from 1-17. Whitby destroyed us. A team in form and with momentum against (unfortunately) a bunch of players who appeared tired, with little attacking cohesion beyond panic and an absolute sieve of a left sided defence. PLT can be a match winner from full back but he’s not a winger and he’s not a defender, making Ben Davies look a poor player, which he’s not. Too many changes in the team to accommodate ex Salford players? I’m not sure. Brierley has made a difference. Ethan Ryan was one of our best ( though it was a very low bar) tonight. Yes we have come a million miles. Yes the future does look incomparably better than three years ago. But tonight was so disappointing. Milner worked hard tonight but to little avail. Smith and JD, after the first 7 minutes or so were anonymous behind a beaten pack. Definite questions about the mind set, and therefore the coaching. Proud of how far we’ve come; disappointed about tonight’s collapse, which it feels has been coming. Back to the drawing board for next season.3 points

Says a lot about Oldham's night when Jacob Fairbank is outpacing everyone from 30 yards out. Absolutely terrific performance by Halifax, outplayed Oldham 1 to 17.3 points
