I cant disagree that things haven't ended well but 3 years ago we were watching an average side (no disrespect to those players) at Whitebank with little or no money. We then won league one, competed well in the championship, set up netpar, created a pathway system and a women's team. I think we need to appreciate what we have had.

For me it's pretty simple. Get out and about in the community. I've never seen the players, coaches, board members anywhere really. We use to see them once a year in Spindles for Meet and Greets etc. Not happened for a long time. I'd start by doing the following making the Players, Coaches, Volunteers, Board Members go to Amateur Rugby Clubs - Youth Primary Schools Secondary Schools Youth Centres (Madhlo) Super Markets / Spindles / High Streets Give out 2 x Free Tickets to every child. Give a presentation of what rugby league is, what Oldham Rugby League is about and their goals. Let them meet the players who are going to be on the field. Make it personable. If you aimed to attend 1 amateur rugby club a week, 5 primary schools, 5 secondary schools and 1 youth centre. That's probably 1000 tickets given out a week. If you did this every week before a home game for lets say 5 home games a year. If only 10% of the Free Tickets was used. That's 100 extra attendance each home game. There needs to be more done. I've said this countless times to my family, Oldham RLFC fan base is predominantly concessions. The focus needs to be on the newer generation. Not just kids but also young adults as well. Enough of them are interested in sports. Open Age Teams at Saddleworth, Waterhead, St Annes, Higginshaw etc. Most have 2 teams. The interest in Rugby League is there, but for some reason doesn't transpire into Oldham RLFC.

The problem is though, that clubs like ours are being frozen out. once the profesional club in the town is gone, in a few years time, as will be the case for most Championship clubs, then the interest from local youngsters will also die off. in turn, this will remove a lot of players from the profesional game.

It's one of the things the NCL was originally set up to sort out, and I think it did. In my years living in York, every time I watched Heworth or Acorn, things were pretty pleasant - plenty of people watching, lots of women and kids, and the small numbers of away fans were always fine and having a drink in the clubhouse and so on. I'm sure all of us can name clubs, particularly in Yorkshire, where this is very much not the case.

If French plays, I reckon so. It'll be down to only 9 Wigan Academy players in our side and 3 in the HKR side. Say what you want about that but it won't play down the shame of playing a few selection mind games

Vichy is probably French RL's greatest friend at this point, it has provided a giant get-out-of-jail card for the code for the last 80 years and allowed people to not look too deeply at the decades of chronic mismanagement and failure to adapt to the times. The golden age of French RL was the 1950s and 1960s so it is debatable if the game would be in any different situation now anyway, Vichy or no Vichy.

Maybe if in the multiple seconds Ponga had to prepare, seeing it was a break long down field and he was in the fullback position, he didn't pin his arm to his side, turn partially sideways, drive with the shoulder, and turn his head so he lost control, knocking a defenceless opponent out may have been avoided. I can cop some people thinking a sinbin would have been better, but pretending a send-off should never have been considered is insane. It's not the 1970's anymore.

True, Saints should try developing some home grown props of their own instead of players like Lees, Delaney and Stephens and signing players from the championship like Walmsley instead of signing failed NRL players like Luke Thompson or this man.

As RL fans, I'm sure we all have a massive horde of club memorabilia from over the years. This evening, I've been sorting through a lot of my collection and found a manky old 'Hull Sharks' scarf. Why the hell have I held on to that?? It got me wondering what other embarrassing and rubbish memorabilia we all have hidden away from the world?

Smith must currently be tied with Tom Grant at the bottom of the pile. He's been down there solo for many years. I prefer Kendall or Liam Rush. One of the really important things with fans is monitoring their actions rather than their opinions. How are you being frozen out? Widnes were in SL from 2012-2018 and couldn't stay up. Since then they've not won the championship or made a case for promotion.

Have heard from some people that Hemel Stags have put in a new pitch, with a new drainage system to go into water tanks under ground, they have also installed a semi automated sprinkler system, topped up with mains water.To me that is the way forward recycling water.

If I had a few millions to throw at a RL club it would be Widnes, I still think they have the most potential (if not the means) of all non SL clubs to be a SL club.

Its sad to say, but French Rugby League is never going to get back the money that was stolen from it by the Vichy government and then gifted to union. We would probably be talking about a very large amount when interest is taken into account.

I saw this a few years ago at Leigh Sports Village. (Nothing to do with Leythers though) Wigan v Warrington U20s, Bobby Goulding was thrown out for kicking off with somebody. His son was playing for Wire. Whatever happened to him. Just disappeared. His son i mean. We all know what Bobby senior has been up to. Trying to sue the RFL for head injuries whilst being one of the worst offenders in modern times for head shots with the elbow.

So Klein in the week leading up to the game is running through the different scenarios in his head that might eventuate in the game. One scenario he imagines is that one team goes out to a big lead and it`s not looking good for the other. The crowd is flat and it looks like it`s going to be a long second half. He ponders what if a situation arises where a high tackle that could be deemed serious, or serious enough arises, and these happen fairly regularly in every game, where he has the opportunity of removing one player from the field of the team leading thereby giving the trailing team a greater chance of making a come back. He then goes against the advice of the bunker, he`s within his rights, and proceeds to do so.
