Yeah Oldham are years off been anywhere near for SL, they should concentrate on winning League 1 and getting established in the Championship before anything else. Funny they would probably have had more of a chance under the old structure.
They are busy building a very extensive back room team, as well as investing on the playing side.

Simply an abysmal decision. I totally agree with cutting out head tackles, but they just got this totally wrong

Yes the YEDs group are running coached partly funded by Bill Quinn
Great prices too.

Just read on LoveRL site, their latest power rankings. Oldham are currently 2nd out of all pro clubs just behind Wakefield.

As for Donaldsons card i agree it could have been red but although very careless i don't think a lot of force was applied.Certainly as bad or worse than Watts red last week though.
He should have been sent off. It was a bad reckless tackle.

Toulouse I expect will be in SL by then. There is not enough money in the game yet to fund a Euro Competition - certainly SL clubs will resist any further distribution cuts.
If there is not enough money then we should be putting British clubs first rather than the French ones. Or the overseas clubs are funded separate from the sky deal, bearing in mind they have their own TV deal.

Wrong thread. Sorry

On an earlier video, Nick Rawsthorne stated they were split into 2 teams in training. His words, an A & B team. Every one learns the same moves and drills and then have to slot into the team when needed.
The B players as I see it got a chance against London and all performed well.
I guess there will be days when the team is rotated.Morgan will get a chance over the next two matches I assume although he could play Johnson centre and Tyrer wing. Who knows?
Paga is a difficult one. We have two class half backs and two good hookers. So he will be there to cover injury to the half backs.
Whittel will take his chance when plays bit the likes of him and George Hirst are probably on the fringes. With all these players when the chance comes around I am sure they will be trying their hardest and will be wanting to put themselves forward for a regular spot.
We have some big cup ties in the next few weeks and then the league. Great times.

Ok the latest article on the clubs website about sponsorship it says 3pm.

This all seems to be a recurring theme. Someone transgresses and the reciprient retaliates. The retaliator is treated more severely than the original offender.
We same this in the Hull derby last week -

Years ago when i used to play players wete always told to tackle around the waist and slide down ?? How often do you see that type of tackle now ? Not very often with the games i watch rugby is all about power now player size not skill i know there are some very skillfull players in todays game but not a patch on yesteryears
We were taught to tackle by driving in with the should into the body with the aim of trapping the ball. The second man was to drive in around the thigh area to stop movement. Simple really!

Any idea what day and kick off time fir the York match?

Back to the match, I really enjoyed the first half. There was some really slick rugby out there and having watched the match again, that shone through. I think the second half was more a case of job done, and move on. I know Shaun said different but with done big matches on the the way I am sure that was on their minds.
j also feel the inconsistency of the refereeing didn’t help. He was poor in decisions to both sides. It was another show of “look at me I’m in charge”, rather than getting on with the game and letting it flow.I think Rochdale really contributed to the match. They will hopefully have a good season and keep the local flag flying along with us
The team is starting to gel and a core team is developing. There are some cracking players outside Sundays line up so it should keep pressure on the players currently fly wearing the shirts.
One player who deserves special mention is Elijah Taylor. He really is marshalling the team around the pitch.

Fair enough Mark. Looking forward to Sunday.

Mark R, not a dig, just my opinion.
My original point was I feel it is wrong to charge kids. Many clubs don’t charge for kids these days as it seems there is a concerted effort across the game to attract young fans. However, it wouldn’t have stopped me taking the grandkids normally, but as it is school the next day they can’t go.
My other point was charging an extra £2 on match day. Would this put off walk ups on the day? I know some other clubs do it, but it just seems strange when we are trying to attract as many fans as possible.
i hope we get a great crowd for this match and going forward, Swinton continue to grow again and have success in the championship.
-
Naughty by Swinton though. Charging for kids and putting up the on the day prices. No wonder they struggle for fans

Me the former. People cannot be continuously punished , especially when there is no case.
Time to move on

It was at the time BBC were in overdrive investigating DJs etc. a lot of mud was being slung and the compensation culture was in full swing. No charges or anything so nothing is gained by raking up the mud.
The interviews are superb, the commentary is highly professional.

I thought Rochdale defended really well today. Oldham were solid & never really got out of 2nd gear but never looked in any danger. Referee was inconsistent for both teams, anyone know why Lawton was sin binned? Andrade & the Rochdale scrum half was very good. I’d like to see Oldham vary the attack a bit more & go wide rather than consistently down the middle but we’re winning. Really impressed with the Chapelhow’s I wasn’t sure when we signed them but they’re great
Thought the referee was very padantic and gave weird decisions both ways. Seemed out of his depth and was making it about him. You don't notice a good ref. The sin binning was strange.

Just realised the semi is against Winner of Match 1.
It was Radio Manchester saying it was Swinton or Bradford -
Quarters Draw (3rd March):
1. Sheffield v Batley
2. Bradford v Swinton
3. York v Oldham
4. Wakefield v Barrow
Semis Draw (12th May):
Winner 2 v Winner 4
Winner 3 v Winner 1
So we play York away and if we win a Home semi final against Bradford or Swinton

Oldham Rugby display at Gallery Oldham
in Oldham RLFC
Posted · Edited by sheddingswasus
Unfortunately we only have a limited space to display. The theme tends to be dictated by the library (although the Heritage Trust do have an input). The collection is now curated by Oldham Libraries. It is stored in state of the art storage facility to preserve it for future generations.
The display is changed around every 12 months It is also freshened up during the display term.
All the collection was professionally photographed before we handed it over and all these images are on the Heritage Trust website
There may be an opportunity to have a larger exhibition on special occasions such as say the clubs 150th anniversary but this has yet to be discussed.
Hope this explains it.
