  1. I see York is one of 6 clubs who voted for it. It also looks like our next game v Toulouse will be streamed . Don’t know if that’ll affect kick off day/time

Acorn travel to Halifax today as the last community club in the Challenge Cup. They have done very well to make it this far, and hopefully have added a few quid into the coffeers.  They face a daunting task this afternoon, but I'm sure they will give it their all. Good luck lads.

    The rain should help them

Absolutely nothing wrong for local authorities to loan money out to boost a business and also reap the interest off such investments.

For further reading, it all can be seen here. www.local.gov.uk/parliament/briefings-and-responses/local-authorities-borrowing-and-investment-bill-house-commons-23

I know some live in a "post truth society" and I guess we all can smell the advocates of the rancid fading neocon/populist project that detests any public subsidy (unless of course its in their neighbourhood/golf club or private school.)

Aside from what Salford City council are doing for their local club, its a precedence, it's legal and its successful for all.

    There is this-

🔴🟠🔵The £12m each from Wakefield MBC to their three professional RL clubs for stadium improvement.

🟡The wholly Council  funded, owned and run York community stadium is home to the Knights.

🟣Huddersfield Giants' play at the John Smith stadium was partly financed, built and run by Kirklees council.

🔴⚪Likewise Wigan MBC fully or partly paid and still run the Robins Park and LSV, where  Wigan and Leigh play respectively.

🟡Leeds were able to upgrade Headingley through a commercial loan, guaranteed by their City council.

🛑KR's Craven Park was rebuilt in partnership with the City council via the Kingston community development and now have an running partnership with Hull college.

⚫FC were helped by the council in developing and supporting them at the MKM stadium.

🟠Bradford wanted "Levelling Up" funds to renovate Odsal.

🔵⚪🛑And finally it is  given that local authorities support their sports clubs in Toulouse and Catalan.

🟡🔴Whilst I can't as yet see any evidence local government support came for Warrington or St Helens, I am sure that the new roads around them weren't funded or are maintained by their owners.

But hey ignore the the facts, kids, mince yer misery, ignite yer ignorance. if you want. And let the rest of us support and enjoy the Game.🙆🤷

Wrong about York. The stadium was built on the same footprint of the old ground which partly belonged to the knights. Also the football club invested some of the money from the sale of bootham crescent

  4. Red card fully deserved not sure about the yellows for either team. Consistent with offside and play the balls. Both teams must have learnt how to play the ball in 2nd half unless ref relaxed the rules. Had to laugh at linesman in 2 nd half for putting his flag up for bishop in touch then putting it down again. Wish we could spread the ball like Sheffield. Thought the score flattered us

Just asking but why are you starting from scratch ? Surely with Thunder having scholarship, academy and reserves for the past few seasons where are these players now? Not sure all can have just signed for other clubs at the end of last year.

If they did have all the above the lads would have had no chance of breaking into the team because of dual reg

Wouldn't it be good if some of the bigger clubs allowed Newcastle the free use of few of there fringe players that need game time.

It would be nice to see the rugby community helping Newcastle find there feet, it's great to see them develop there own academy players.

A team established in the North East will be great for our sport and expanding the profile of the game, good luck guys

You mean like most of the clubs already use. It’s called dual reg and is destroying the game

It's strange that Myler hasn't played yet. Is he injured because ive never heard it mentioned?

If we get beat tomorrow and there's some freak results in the 1895 like a draw between keighley and Bradford, which isn't impossible, then we wont have a game for 5 weeks until Doncaster.  Would Myler get thrown in to that with no game time?  Just seems strange that everyone else has played to work on combinations etc and the "star signing" hasn't.

I have heard some pub talk about a superleague club not far away from York looking for a experienced half as back up, they've already tried to sign Gale and it got me thinking especially as they wouldn't want a cup tied player. Hope not and probably overthinking and way off the mark but nothing would surprise me.

Do hope your wrong but nothing surprises me with contracts these days

I don’t know why we or the players should be shocked at how Trinity played, they are full time, just come down from Super League and a budget way way in excess of anyone else in the Championship, I can’t see anyone getting close to them this season, the team they put out against us was their first choice if you go by the shirt numbers, I am surprised they didn’t score more points to be honest.

    Agreed

Size does matter. Anybody who went to Odsal for the play off game last season will tell you it was the big Bradford forwards who ran all over us. A big pack definitely makes a difference.

I get your point but nobody ran all over us in the preceding 10/11 games. Sometimes teams just play better than you
