  1. If the club announce season ticket sales are up to 1100 from 1000 for example, people would say it’s not that impressive. Better to say “record season tickets sales” and a “big percentage increase on last year” without giving an actual figure. It’s basic marketing. As long as the sales are growing year on year then there’s nowt to moan about.
  2. I’m sure they’ll be fine once the pitches firm up.
  3. Now that's how you integrate a main sponsor into the kit.

We haven’t really lost any players from last year and added loads of depth including 3 players who could still comfortably be playing SL. We’ve also recruited one of SL’s best ever attacking halfbacks as assistant coach. So if we don’t improve by at least by 3 league places from last season which we were proper bobbins for 50% of and still finished 6th, then it’ll be a failure in my eyes.
  5. Those Halifax ones are probably the worst I’ve seen, sponsors at a jaunty angle, faded panther logo at the bottom of the V for some reason, odd colour blue, just a mess. Like they’ve been designed by Stevie Wonder.
  6. They’re both mid table Championship players from what I’ve seen over the past few years.
  7. I agree, the lad wanted to sign for York but we couldn't offer him full-time rugby yet. He'll be a key player for us one day.
  8. In my opinion, the biggest part in our end of season run was Brenden Santi, other forwards upped their game once he arrived. Delighted he’s signed for another year.
  9. It would have been nice to have another York lad on the books but I don’t think we’ll miss him as such, he’s definitely going to be a top class player in a few years but Kienhorst and Levi would be my first choices at centre next year.
  10. Do transfer fees count on the salary cap? Chances are if that's (still?) the case it's just a way round that. Walmsley won't be out of pocket at all.
  11. The RFL could have done a lot worse than have him involved at the top end of the sport, hopefully he's back in the game one day.
  12. Have you ever thought something would be good, then when it wasn't as you hoped changed your opinion? Happy to say I'm capable of doing that. If you want your club to go down that route then fair dos, enjoy the spectacle.
  13. Well researched, bit weird going back to my opinion 5 or 6 years ago though, it's like going through my bins and finding out I used to like ready meals. We'd just re-started the club after almost going out of existence due to a nutcase owner, wouldn't mind Newcastle for instance doing it this year if it helps them onto a sound footing. I don't agree with established Championship clubs like Batley, Halifax & Fev being feeder clubs.
  14. I hated it when we used it, found myself worrying about Hull KR's injury situation due to it impacting the York team. We had some decent players who ended up signing permanently for us in Matty Marsh, Will Jubb, Liam harris etc but were also mucked about a fair bit in thinking we had a player for the Sunday only to find he'd been sent to Leigh on loan instead for instance. I see Batley have now got into bed with Castleford which was to be expected as they need to save some money but it's not the way forward to a bright future, it's just a sticking plaster solution which helps them raise a team.
  15. Yes they would, most would literally do anything if they thought it might save them a tenner.
  16. It's a system that holds the game back and is just pure cost cutting and short-sightedness by both the SL club and their feeder club and it damages the integrity of the Championship & League 1. If all the feeder clubs refused to pander to the SL clubs, the players would naturally filter down the pyramid anyway which would strengthen the game at lower levels rather than having SL clubs hoover up all the players. If it genuinely worked in everyone's interest, why has no "partnership" ever lasted?
  17. And now we've got another.
  18. I reckon Sheffield’s will. Proper Dad’s Army there.
  19. York looking fairly strong all over the field, could do with another forward I reckon but we've finally got some strength in depth. Get this lot firing and we'll be right up there. 1. Will Dagger 2. Joe Brown 3. Jimmy Kienhorst 4. Levi Edwards 5. AJ Towse 6. Richie Myler 7. Liam Harris 8. Brenden Santi 9. Will Jubb 10. Conor Fitzsimmons 11. Oli Field 12. Bailey Antrobus 13. Jordan Thompson 14. Taylor Pemberton 15. Jack Teanby 16. Ukuma Ta'ai 17. Ronan Michael That's leaving out James Cunningham, Josh Daley, Jesse Dee, Myles Harrison, Ata Hingano, Nikau Williams who are all very good Championship players, plus we've got a good selection of youth coming through as well to keep the pressure on.
  20. They sold a player, and have taken 2 players on trial with a view to signing them, so nothing like a loan. Nothing wrong with that, especially as the cash will help run their development teams.
  21. What's embarrassing about signing 2 young lads on trial from a SL club? Are you getting mixed up with Dual Reg?
  22. Degsy's face at half time in the Challenge Cup match v York when it looked like we might pull off a shock. He looked like he was going to be sick. We'd been bang average all season and struggled to get 17 out due to injuries, drafting in 2 young lads from Wigan on loan to make up numbers and for 60 minutes it really looked like we were going to turn them over.
