  1. The FA Cup final is now just a sideshow game, just another game between the greedy monied clubs and their fans. It's now shunted to a Saturday tea time slot before the league season is finished and holds very little interest for most fans outside of the TV show clubs' fans. I could list most of the cup finals and scorers etc growing up until 10-15 years ago, I wasn't alone. Cup final day was THE day, the big day for every football fan and non fans all over the country, we all know the history of it, the build up, the whole day taken up by it, that part of people's lives has gone now. I can't remember the last time I watched the FA Cup final or tell you who has won the last 10-15.
  2. Yep, some teeth gnashing going on over some of the step 5/6 leagues, well, certain clubs in particular has raised eyebrows
  3. Why shouldn't they though? they've earned the right on the field, not through the banks. That's what used to make the competition interesting, now it's a case of which 2 of Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern and PSG will contest the final.
  4. From talking to other fans around the UK and Europe I can say that that is definitely not the case, if by fans you mean the "fans" of the big, monied, global conglomerate clubs like Abu Dhabi all-stars, Boston Billionaires , Roubles R us etc then maybe, but they are the people who are brainwashed by the money. Fans of clubs who won't necessarily win their league's are more than happy to be playing in the so called lesser of the European cups, I suspect many Frankfurt, Rangers, Leicester, West Ham, and Union Berlin fans are certainly very keen on the other competitions.
  5. >pedant mode< Sheffield have never played in the Premier League, or indeed in any professional league, however, both Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday have both played in the Premier League, Wednesday being one of the founder members.
  6. Regarding the decision to penalise Clark, if he just gets to his feet and play the ball rather than try and cut a corner and look for the easy route then the referee doesn't have to make a decision to penalise him. By the rules it was the correct decision, it was messy, maybe harsh, but Clark made it easy for Moore.
  7. How on earth did Huddersfield lose so heavily to this Warrington side? Fair enough they've had a couple of decisions go against them but they are awful, do they have any forwards or a backbone?
  8. Possibly, it could have actually worked out in our favour, because they were soon knocked out of their comfort zone by those 2 quick tries but got back to work to get the job done.
  9. Absolutely no insight into anything that's happening, I know people complain about "Nobby" and others on the BBC for explaining this to any new viewers etc but at least they try and add a bit of insight and context, even if most regular RL fans know about it. But apart from Jon Wells, who it seems is trying to be the controversial one on SKY these days, not one of them offer anything remotely insightful. Just as I type this, Baz has just come out with "OOOOOOOOOOOOH" when another big collision occurs!
  10. "Noooo, Nevver, nevver" cried Baz at a Hull knock on, replay clearly showed a knock on by a Hull player. "That's not a shoulder charge" while an opponent was laid flat out from a clear shoulder charge. "That should be a card" before the referee dished a yellow out "It might be a shoulder charge now but it was fine in my day" Just STFU Baz!
  11. It's a bit tiresome listening to the commentary team disagreeing or debating refereeing decisions, they should be commenting on what's happening in the game rather than voicing their personal opinions on the referee's decisions.
  12. Not a classic but enthralling all the same I thought, despite Huddersfield being the better side, it was a fairly close game for most of it, had we taken our chances a bit better we could and probably should have been out of sight, but credit to Wigan for sticking at it and making us a bit nervous. There was some good performances, as usual Lolohea, Fages and Leutele were class, (Lolohea's pass just after half time and his cheeky on the clock drop out were superb bits of play), Ash Golding was very calm and made some good yards and I was pleased for Louis but his all round game wasn't the best and I thought the young half back for Wigan did well, Rick's lad? we kept French fairly quiet and for once I didn't have the spectre of Liam Flipping Farrell cutting through our defensive line which was nice But what it showed me was again, this Giants side have got something we haven't had in a while, togetherness, the will to win, the spirit of brotherhood, the need to stick together to get through the worst, something we simply wouldn't have done with the likes of Sezer, Gaskell, Edwards etc. Another win against Wigan in a couple of weeks and Watto can have the town hall keys for me.
  13. I was referencing @Cw25original reply which said Huddersfield 18-32 Wigan . even with the rested players. I meant whose rested players were they referencing? and why they came to the conclusion the scoreline would possibly be different if players weren't rested? I am looking forward to the game, to see how both squads react to making a cup final, some of the squad players in both sides could have a shout of playing at Tottenham, I think it could be a pretty open, exciting game.
  14. I don't think any Giants fan will be sorry, regardless of quality etc, for most of us, just having some replica kit or any merchandise to wear, especially for the cup and grand finals will be an improvement on PlayerLayer!
  15. Chippy tea is an absolute classic, well in my eyes it is!
  16. Most Fartown fans accept and even self deprecation is the order of the day when it comes to our lack of numbers, but enthusiasm and loyalty will always trump numbers as we proved on Saturday. We even sang "we're going to Tottenham in a taxi" while enjoying thousands of "better fans" walking out. What frustrates me and others is that the same level of criticism isn't labelled at other teams for poor followings, or that our support gets called out for being poor when it's not really that bad. Anyway, cheers for the wishes, I think all the pressure is on Wigan for the final, we will just slip nicely under the radar again I feel and let the pundits talk down our chances. Mr Wells anyone
  17. Aye, don't wanna miss your curfews Leigh fans will still be amazing themselves when they see a train
  18. It's our end, we're the big boys, you're allowed to play with us that day, just make sure you behave yourselves
  19. If the challenge cup final doesn't or can't sell out 60,000 seats then it's not because of Huddersfield, who will probably be the noisiest and last set of fans out of the stadium again
