  1. I did query on twitter last week where Whitehaven sent a tweet out celebrating National Womens Day, while also saying they had selected him for the squad against swinton in another tweet. I was told by A Whitehaven fan to keep my nose out as I didnt know the full facts, I said the court case pretty much presented the full facts. I didn't get a reply after that!

Its bad on the RFL's side not to immediately ban him once he pleaded guilty as they would have done in Australia, and Whitehaven have just said they accept the verdict, bad all around as people have already mentioned.

Whatever is the case it's a better statement than I expected 🤣 see you next weekend, hopefully be a great game 👍

Yes good luck, it’s terrible to see clubs in trouble, we have been there often enough ourselves

It's more positive than I thought it was going to be so I'll take it 🤣 you're right about the HMRC payment and I can only think the off season focus has been on paying that down ( rightly so in my opinion) and this has only came about due to money owed which no one would of predicted. Hopefully we can just move on now and build ourselves back up 🤞

Actually any company should predict in their cashflows that late payment of creditors will occur, no company has 100% of people paying on time

It is a good point about Salford and the separate identity to Manchester. Trafford (which I believe is in Salford) is home to Manchester United, and now Manchester Originals. Salford Central train station is somewhere you get off if you want to go to the Spinningfields end of Manchester, rather than Picaddilly. In fact, I'm not sure Salford has what you would describe as a City Centre.

As for the council spend, the more they spend, the more the need to spell out the justification. At Leigh (the only one I can really talk to as my hometown), the benefits to the local economy of a reasonably successful RL side are a bit more direct. With people mulling around the town on matchdays. Then there is the extended benefits that come from women's football, either United or the Euros and the RLWC matches. I'm not sure how much of those benefits will be realised at Salford. The numbers attending are a drop in the ocean compared to numbers at nearby landmarks.

Trafford is a seperate council, both Old Traffords come under them and not Salford

  5. I live in the City of Salford but am a Swinton fan, can kind of see both sides of the arguement. Salford already struggles to maintain an identity as a city from Manchester, most of my friends when asked, say they are from Manchester to people from outside the area. So I can see the councils viewpoint of they need a quite high profile team to promote the area and in thoery the team should bring a lot of benefits to the area. Unfortunately interest in RL seems to have dropped in the area as the beast that is Football is taking over everything these days. Folly, Eccles and langworthy try their best and are very good amatuer clubs.

From a personal viewpoint though, council tax is going up 5% again, services are getting cut left, right and centre, so should the council be throwing money down a blackhole where they dont get any payback? Also as a Swinton fan we got nothing as they just wanted to build houses on the ground and as a town, we have lost our identity and all our facilities in the town as the council just pour their money into vanity areas like Salford Quays and the media hungry Mayor of Salford just wants a nice picture in the paper of himself so he looks like hes doing something

  6. According to my dad I went to my first Swinton game in 1977 when I was about 3, he used to take me and our kid and let us run around the ground in a race and then say he hadn't seen who had won so send us round again! Don't think you could get away with that now, but at least we weren't fat as kids!

Still got my season ticket after all these years and countless grounds, amateur's wise its Folly Lane. I lived about 400 yards away from both grounds growing up.

  7. Couldn't make yesterday but I am led to believe it was a very professional performance and nice to see Hammond standing out. Agree with Hall, he has looked so much better at 13 this year and if we can get Stevens form Saints i think he could have the impression that Delaney did last year

  8. As a Swinton fan, I don't think I have ever been to a Rochdale game where they had more fans then us! I reckon it will be 2-1 in your favour in terms of fans and 46-12 in terms of on the pitch

St Helens youth academy is just insane some the talent they produce especially in the outside backs is probably the best in the world. As a roosters fan I am incredibly jealous. Ar the roosters there are only 2 players actually from the eastern suburbs at the club (Radley and B Smith) and practically every player in the NSW cup and jersey Flegg teams aren’t local, it’s quite embarrassing.

Will any of those boys being appearing for Swinton this season ?

Our squad Swinton looks a bit thin so you would expect so, it worked for Delaney last year who started the season at Swinton and Roberts was coming along nicely till his injury.

  11. Swinton have said their shirt isn't available till the 26th Jan, therefore missing out on all the xmas trade. Blaming it waiting to sign commercial contracts, if it takes 2 months to sign those contracts we are in trouble. I take it we scored 0 in fan interaction on the IMG ratings as we seem to show blatant disregard to anyone that isn't in the Chief Exec's inner circle when it comes to communication. We are apparently releasing some new training gear,  they said on the 25th Nov there would be a pre-xmas pop up shop announced shortly, that's usually in the chief exec's local, but the only sign we have seen is when one of his drinking pals put a picture of himself on social media with a new training top on.

Oh and don't bother looking on the website either, apart from a post 3 days ago about the AB Sundecks cup, the one before that is 3 weeks ago. We don't even mention yesterdays fixture release.
