It's not uncommon though is it?
Hunslet
North Wales Crusaders
Odsal with a speedway track
I do find they vary wildly tbf
Hunslet is a great view from the upper tier
Crusaders you barely even notice the track
I don’t recall Skolars being that bad, fairly sure the long jump was on the far side from the main stand which is obviously a huge factor
Don Valley is the only ground where I gave up attending because you saw so little of the game (Odsal isn’t far off tbh)

Salford v Wigan
6,087.
10 minutes ago, Damien said:Pleasantly surprised by that but Salford with the big, main stand hidden on TV is never a good look. Wigan do usually take a decent number to Salford.
Certainly compares favourably to the 3,827 at Salford City v Stockport tonight.
Absolute lunacy for them both to be at home at the same time btw. And on neighbouring Sky channels, too!

Much as I hate to upset the conspiracy theorists on here (that was a lie), Leigh have occasionally been late in announcing attendances going back before Beaumont bought the club.
It was always announced at the game (a good signal that the clock had hit 75 minutes) but was just a bit slow at updating the website sometimes.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again
WHO HAS THE TIME TO WATCH FULL MATCH REPLAYS OF SEVERAL MATCHES THAT HAVE ALREADY TAKEN PLACE?!
I do have a grudging admiration for those who have the discipline to be watching a game and actively avoid other scores from the same division, but that isn’t for me.
My much bigger bugbear is that nobody at Sky is condensing the non-feature game in to 15 minute highlights. I know this is available on iPlayer at some point, but we’ve already established in the other thread that press extra buttons other than the channel number is just a faff.

Incorrect.
IMG stipulate that only fans in attendance are counted for gradings (though I suppose clubs could announce one thing publicly, and report another to IMG).
I stand corrected, good knowledge (although it does mean the figures in the public domain are pretty much useless!)

I think it is now done on actual attendance at the game and not tickets sold
All done on tickets sold from what I can gather from a couple of sources

Me too. I travel from London to a few Halifax home games every season, but I won't be for this. If it had been virtually any other team I'd have been there, but meh is a good description of how I feel too.
It's the first time Fax will have met Cats I believe, although we drew them in the CC a few years ago but the game was never played. Halifax got chucked out for fielding an illegible player in an earlier round, exactly the same offence Hull made the previous season, but who mysteriously avoided the same punishment.
Wasn’t that supposed to be against Batley? I only know because I was on the M62 when it got pulled and ended up going to Crusaders v Catalans instead!

The theory is that the team socks are too tight around the ankles to the extent that they restrict blood flow to the feet which is why it’s particularly prevalent in football. Don’t buy it personally but it’s certainly happened in RL for at least 4/5 years which was when I first remember seeing it.
-
What’s with the (lack of a) crowd at Fev?! Thought they’d be crammed to the rafters for that one.
-
Part of the food village being turned over to a Ticket Plus kind of offering with private loos and the like would be an easy win, I expect.

Dragging up an old post but I saw the England, Scotland AND Ireland versions the other week, all at the same Bolton game! Amazing how well they sold without the official branding.
I’m now completely buying in to spotting the New Era RLWC2021 hats wherever possible. England and Wales versions both spotted at Barnsley v Bolton tonight!

Hull KR is going to sell out again this week.
This is great, but it really does highlight how we need to expand the ground with some urgency. The club hasn’t won anything yet, so if we’re creating this much demand simply by playing well and getting in the Top 4 once, imagine what real success would bring? We don’t want to lose the opportunity to enable new customers to sample the product. At the moment we risk that.
You’d imagine as a bare minimum that they’d be looking at reducing the visitors allocation (bar Hull) if at all possible or maybe even moving them to the Well.

There is absolute clear logic to the RFL's system.
The lines are not there for aesthetic reasons, they are there due to rules.
10m line - marks the kick restart from a dropout.
20m line - for 20m restarts.
30m line - marks 10m from the 20m line for dropouts.
40m line - marks 10m from the halfway.
Literally the only 10m space that isn't important is the 30m to 40m line, as there is no marker required between these lines. None at all. That's why the RFL have used the system of reducing that. Not just for style over substance.
It's fine to prefer another system, but it should be clear that you are preferring a system that undermines most pitch basics.
In reality, most haven't got a clue why they are saying the NRL system is best. It's simply a chance to bag the RFL.
It’s almost as if this a question that has existed for as long as the game itself and yet people think the RFL made it up on the hop just to annoy folk.
And the clamour for numbered lines is one I will never understand. If you’re a seasoned fan, chances are you’ll have delivered the sense where you can just tell automatically whereabouts on the field you are. If you’re at the ground, or even more so watching on TV, then surely you’d prefer the line being marked differently in your eye line (broken lines, red line etc) rather than having to look across to the touchline. And yet that’s a stick that certain posters have been using recently towards clubs and the RFL.
How about the NRL try and look outside of their own bubble and think “hang on, they might have an idea here” rather than the current vogue of SL = bad, NRL = good. Let’s be honest, the Aussies only do it differently to us just to be awkward. Time to question why we still let them be a country, really.

Leigh, first game in Jan 1992
Could see the Hilton Park floodlights out of my bedroom window so it was never going to be any other way.
A godparent took me and my brother to Wigan a couple of times, but he knew he’d lost when we were cheering on the Aussies against Wigan at Central Park in the ‘94 Ashes tour

13,028 at Saints a decent crowd with it being so bloody cold, but it was down 400 on last year when we played them.
9 hours ago, yipyee said:Seemed to be a lot less leythers this year, plus we played them in the warmer summer months.
Leigh actually pre-sold 300 more tickets for Friday than the game last September. Not sure whether Saints had a few more on the gate that time because of the post semi-final rumblings.

Fun games these have been.
I enjoy seeing the Brisbane kits that have an actual collar on them, it is strange to see a player version with a collar nowadays.
I've been on and off twitter and my homepage seems to be full of random people watching the matches and enjoying them. I saw JBL of WWE fame was watching it (although I seem to remember him mentioning RL many years ago, something to do with Crabtree IIRC)
I hope this Vegas adventure has given the NRL what they wanted, as a fan it has delivered watching on TV, and I imagine delivered if you went in person. I was thinking about going this year for it, but I will definitely be considering going to Vegas in 2025 for the next one.
Somebody get the Jake the Snake Roberts video, quick!

Leigh were gifted a new ground, they're in no position to be criticising clubs who for decades faced an actively antagonistic council.
Wish someone would have told me that at the time or I wouldn’t have needed to be out collecting signatures in support of the development.
And, again, I will point out that more work was done in the final decade of Hilton Park than there has been at Cas, before or since.

Hard to compare to football though. It's just everywhere.
Good to see London putting in some effort to build support in a decent ground. They might go down, but puts them in good stead to go back up in the near future.
Non-league isn’t, though. But it does give encouragement that there are so many markets to tap in to.
5 minutes ago, Eddie said:Definitely, Dulwich Hamlet are averaging almost 2,500 in the seventh tier of football, surrounded by professional clubs, they definitely know their niche.
They were very much who I was thinking of and I know have been mentioned on here previously.

You are right that Cas have owned their own ground throughout and should have invested in it properly, but don't be gloating about your gifted ground.
Hilton Park was not good.
That's the nicest thing I can say about it.
And 15 years isn't the same as 25 years, is it. Not even in Leigh.
The process started 25 years ago.

My club was given around 100 freebies (and many RU clubs got freebies too). We also got freebies last season but take-up wasn’t very good.
What’s changed is Broncos are in Super League. Londoners will turn up for top level sport in a smart stadium with decent facilities. Batley, not so much.
Tbf quite a few non league clubs in London do well for crowds so it isn’t directly just down to top level sport as long as you can find your right niche.

Yeah, like Leigh did?
The Hilton Park of the mid 1990s was significantly different to the one of the mid 2000s. With more than double the seating capacity of Castleford 2024 and significantly better disabled facilities. Heck, we even had proper directors boxes. Now there’s an idea. And it may have escaped your attention that we moved grounds 15 (FIFTEEN) years ago now.

I think this is a poor byproduct of the IMG grading process. Cas are wasting money on short-term box ticking exercises, making some changes to the ground (esp. Princess St) that I don't think anybody really wants when that money could be much better spent on their long-term stadium rebuild.
If they’d tried ticking those boxes 25 years ago when everybody else did then they’d have had plenty of time to save up for new digs.

Warrington v Catalans on iPlayer on Easter Saturday is the best I can offer. Does strike as a bit of a shame but Sky probably wanted exclusivity considering this has been an ‘all televised’ round for a few years now
