FT BARROW THIRTY EIGHT SL Dreamboys NIL, NADDA, NUTHIN
As for the Wukkie game im saying nuthin DKW......Come on Wukkie.
How predictable from Barrow's number one mental case.
We're a charitible bunch in Widnes and thought we'd give Barrow their confidence back, which we did with some style. Oh and Rooney did play.
Talking of dreaming, if you think that stadiums ever getting anywhere near SL you're living in a dreamworld. It makes Wakey look like Old Trafford.

I think the ref got it right. In most circumstances 2 yellows would have sufficed but I think the fact that Bailey wasn't fighting back and Radford looked like he had no desire to stop left the referee with no choice.
I'm not condoning Bailey for one second, and a fight is a fight but beating somebody up is bordering on assault.
-
Check the league table and come back, MD
Ah right I thought Hull-Leeds was a straight fight for 4th vs 5th.
-
Why do 5th play 7th and 6th play 8th?
Surely this means that finishing 6th is better than 5th?

My favourite quote is,
"I love football but this game is something else."
Looking at another thread I actually feel quite guilty. We've torn whole families and communities apart by bringing our sport to this North Welsh enclave.
The question of whether to go follow the Crusaders to Huddersfield or to stay loyal to Wrexham who are playing at same time, could cause a civil war in Wrexham.
-
Bailey provoked Radford with some unnecessary foul play, who then retaliated - both should have gone to the bin.
To send one off and leave the other unpunished was an outrage.
I see what you're saying but in my opinion there is a difference. A fight is one thing and whilst what Bailey did was bad, he was trying to get him off so that he could get up. Radford was hitting somebody who wasn't hitting back. I'm not against fighting in the game and I'm glad we're nowhere near Football where you get sent off for standing within 2 metres of another player, but as a sport we can't condone thuggery like that.
-
Bailey is an idiot and should be nowhere near the England side.
However yesterday I think the ref got it right. Bailey elbowed Radford but Radford punched a man who wasn't punching back. That's pretty cowardly.
-
Widnes have to be included next time - no question about that - they have followed the Blueprint perfectly. One other plus is that geographically its correct that Widnes are included as there is an imbalance between clubs in Lancs & Yorks.
Last time I saw the odds (Hills) it was Cas & Wakey both even money to go & 8/1 bar so it looks a toss up there.
I can't see how anyone would drop Cas over Wakey I'm afraid.

This weekend has been one of the best weekends of RL for ages.
Kicked off with Sheffield and Leigh playing a dramatic, thrilling game on TV. Today had 2 superb, controversial, exciting until the end, matches with massive crowds with a finish that will go down in history. Then you have an expansion club winning in front of a decent crowd in another dramatic game to make the playoffs for the first time. Add in 60,000 fans so far and you've got a blinder.
Unfortunately it will end with probably the least anticipated game of Super League history (Salford vs Wakey) but you can't have everything!
-
Decent balance there I'd say.
-
I'd second that. Well done Cru, hopefully you get some good publicity from it across Wales.
-
What a brilliant RL moment.
Well done Keiron.

24-24
Sounds like a cracker.

Awesome.
BBC4 has always been a guilty pleasure of mine. Monday is gonna be superb.
What do they mean by 'The game that got away?'

Best team won obviously but what really worried me was that it was like watching an NRL game from about 8 years ago with sides banging out sets of 6 and the winners being decided on who who blinked first and who didn't deal with kicks.
We always seem to be a few years behind the NRL. I wouldn't say 8 years but the game does seem more like an NRL game did a few years ago.
The positive and I've been saying it for a while now, is that the NRL seems to have moved to a more skills based game again. Whenever I see it and I watch a lot of the highlights, the tries are often sensational.

Well, having been at the meeting where it was announced a council member would take a place on our board, and having listened to that councilor, I can tell you EXACTLY the motivation behind it.
It is well documented that a 'marquee' sports organisation in any given district of the UK has a dramatic effect on the health of the district's inhabitants. In a nutshell, more young people want to play rugby, and old people want to get up from their chair and walk to the ground. Proven fact that the burden on health resources is lighter when the town's sporting heroes are doing well. The investment of Halton BC in the Vikings and the success of the Vikings DIRECTLY supports government driven health (and particularly obesity) directives in this respect.
It is also a documented fact that small businesses in a given town in the UK (especially those in the food/drink/retail/entertainment sectors) also do better when the marquee sporting club are successful, again supporting a key aim of the borough council to help small business.
Halton BC are helping the Vikings by addressing THEIR OWN targets handed down by Downing Street. Its a win-win for them and us. Coupled with the fact that Stobart in partnership with the council have just created a major transport hub for the town, earning 25 million-per-year contracts from the likes of Tesco and creating 5000 jobs, you soon see why HBC and Stobart together works so well for the Vikings and the town as a whole. The wider activity of the two partners is plentiful. 'Widnes Sport Ltd' has announced which im sure reflect a LOT more activity than just rugby on a Sunday, and it's quite frankly fantastic to see it.
Agreed, I've said this before. In places like Widnes, St Helens, Warrington, Wigan, Featherstone, Castleford etc etc it's the rugby club that gives the town it's heart and soul.
Without it, all your left with is Runcorn....

You've got predominantly blue kit with some amber on it, and a predominantly amber kit with some blue on it. The psychic kit designers at Leeds weren't to know that Warrington would move away from their predominantly white shirt of last year to a kit that would clash with both.
Yep you're right - it's all Leeds' fault. I'm sure they'll be consulting with Warrington in the future before they confirm any kit designs...
Bottom line - it ain't that important. Yes it wasn't the clearest distinction between the two teams, but I've seen worse. Hopefully common sense will prevail next time. And the Leeds kit designers will be burned at the stake...
I agree.
I still think Leeds should have more common sense, seeing as though they only ever clash with one other clubs colours but the RFL should have seen it coming. Wendall even posted about it a few days after the semi finals so it's not like nobody realised it.
You could see the difference most of the time but there was the odd occasion from an up and under where it was difficult to see. It was disappointing when reading Twitter to find it was what most people were commenting on, meaning they'd notice that rather than the game.
Although it was probably for the best seeing the quality of the game...
Actually on a separate point, from reading Twitter it was quite disheartening to see how many people hate RL and feel the need to comment on it when it's on national TV.
-
Mate, if you don't think that these shirts look massively different then you need your eyes testing! Are you seriously implying you could confuse the two?
So we have a Blue and Amber kit and a Blue and Amber kit. Great!
Both kits manage to clash with the only team that they would clash with.
-
Quite easily - Warrington have alot of blue and yellow on their home shirt. Leeds have a predominantly blue home shirt, and a predominantly yellow away shirt, so they both clash with Warrington's home shirt. But to say that Leeds' home and away kits clash with each other would be ludicrous.
Say for example Leeds decide to have a predominantly red away kit one year, but then for that season Wakefield's home kit is red and blue. Leeds' blue home kit and red away kit would both clash with Wakefield's home shirt. Sometimes it just happens that way. The sensible thing would've been to have Warrington wear red and green or force Leeds to use a different colour for the final. But you can hardly blame Leeds when they were designing their kits at the start of the year for not accounting for what Warrington may or may not wear.
I think we all agree that Warrington should have wore their away kits. However Leeds didn't help matters. Their home and away kits are the same colours but in different amounts. When they play a side that has the same colours it is going to produce a clash no matter what.
The Wakefield example isn't perfectly analogous because their kit is predominantly white with both of those colours and Leeds would at least have some different colours in their kit. Most clubs seem to manage having away kits that include some different colours at least. Leeds go from a kit that is 75/25 blue to amber to one that is 85/15 amber to blue.
The worst thing is if all clubs in Super League wore their home shirts unless there was a clash then Leeds would only need to swap their kit for the away leg at Warrington. So in effect their away shirt totally fails at the job it was originally designed for.

Can wire do the Cup and League double?
Of course they can. At the risk of stating the obvious, they are the only team who can do it this year. Whether they will or not is another question.
As much as I fear I'm coming across like I like the Wire, I honestly don't, however they are big contenders this year.
In the past few weeks they have beaten the League winners away in a massive game and comprehensively outplayed the current champions at Wembley.
There's only Saints who have anything over them and that's only a matter of time.
-
To be fair, Leeds' away kit is massively different from their home kit. It just happened that Warrington's home kit this season clashes with both.
That makes no sense whatsoever. If 2 kits are so different how can they both clash with one kit?
There's an easy way to stop them clashing. Have them as different colours like most clubs would have.
-
I've been thinking this for some time but a bit part of me thinks that Wire are destined to shake off the Saints voodoo in a big game.
Like a Super League Grand Final.....
-
I think it will be remembered as a poor final. Taking nothing away from Wire who were excellent (as much as it pains me to say), Leeds were dreadful and should have lost by more. It meant the game was effectively over as a contest and it always required a massive turn around from Leeds.
It's a shame because it started well with high intensity and the crowd came across really well on TV.
The kit clash was just plain silly. I was following Twitter throughout and most people were commenting on the same team playing each other. The RFL needs some common sense and Leeds need to recognise what an away kit is supposed to do.

Barrow were good today. Started like they looked low on confidence though. As soon as Widnes' ineptitude gave them a couple of tries they were off and we probably did well to keep them to 38 in the end. I got the feeling had we scored first Barrow's heads might have dropped but we wouldn't have scored in 2 games today.
Disappointed but hey thanks to licensing it's not the end of the world, in fact it doesn't matter much at all! Thanks RFL for taking the highs and the lows out the game!
