Think one game to write off Walker as a 6 is harsh when he's just won man of the match in the last 2 games setting up 6 tries and getting a few line break assists. The game management aspect needs to improve but his passing and short kicking game is very good and exceeded my expectations.

I'm not basin my opinion on one game and you even said so yourself that his game management needs to improve as does his in game kicking.

Too many times he nearly got caught short kicking due to not being deep enough. Plus there was little or no planning when attacking their try line within their 10.

    Hopefully he will improve.

Not many positives to take from that, good for fitness! Silva looks a handful. Thought Finn McMillan should have been man of the match. Second half was terrible.

Completely agree, Hunslet looked the better team in stages however our forwards won the game for us today. Thought Silva, Burke, Magic Mike and Wilkinson put in a good shift.

Again, our line speed was woeful, practically none existent and we didn't attack from deep at any time. I understand playing to the conditions but Hunslet looked decent when playing expansive.

And Brad Walker definitely is not a 6. Too many times play broke down when he had the ball with no organisation.

  3. The most noticeable thing for me was line speed. We didn't have it last season and again we looked lethargic in defence at times which resulted in 2 of their try's.

I personally thought Crusaders line speed was better than ours.

Another is our attack, we don't attack from deep? At this level we should give ourselves better options instead of playing what looked like basic rugby.

Anyone heard anything at all on the signings front?

I have half a feeling we will use the pre season games to run the rule over several trial players who look to earn contracts rather than sign anymore.

also do think we will look to use the duel reg system this coming season.

I thought I heard a while back that Barrow was hoping and expecting to go duel reg with Wigan but Wakefield have since got that deal.

With any luck and the best possible dual reg prospect would be to go with Leigh Leopards who don't have an academy side.  They have spent heavily on one team and their fringe players would be good at championship level.

My apologies for even suggesting Barrow could be at fault for anything. I should have known better.

It appears to me that Barrow have tried to come with a solution to assist an unsettled player. Any club would just like J Carter signing for Whitehaven.

    Simple really.

He’s got another year. Barrow got into him, unsettled him then refused to pay as they wanted him for nothing. If he misses out next season then that is entirely Barrows fault. Shame because he is too good to be sitting on his backside. At the same time can’t blame Haven for not wanting to just give him to a rival team.

Can't see Barrow being at fault for unsettling him when his current club couldn't pay him.

I'm sure if the shoe was on the other foot and Barrow couldn't pay a players wage and that said player refused to train, Whitehaven would jump at the chance to sign them.

    Signed on;

Broadbent, Creswell, Carter, Shaw, S.Toal, Bulman, Costello, Clarke, Johnston, Jackson, Wood, Burke, Silva, Gillam, Greenwood, Stack, Emeslie, D.Toal, Wilkinson.

That leaves us with 19 if as expected Brad Walker and Sam Dowsett sign that's 21. Desperately in need of a 6 not convinced Jackson or Walker are champ level 6s. Also need at least another 2 props (hopefully Tom Walker is one)

Still no news on Sammut's intentions for next season?

Wigan are duel-Reg with Wakefield Trinity

We've probably lost the opportunity to go duel reg with Wigan now and it's gone extremely quiet on the singing.

I hope we hear some news on strengthing the squad as this upcoming season willl potentially be tougher than the last with Wakefield and Toulouse being part of it.

  9. Rugby league doesn't need IMG.

The game would be restored if the game removed the Super League name & brand. When the Super league name came about, the game lost its identity and those clubs who were doing well in league 25 years ago prospered and the lower clubs were destined to demise as did the sport.

Dont forget, big Joe started out as a winger 😉

Fair one but Joe was later dedicated to playing in the forwards.

I see Featherstone have released 17 players from their squad. Wouldn't mind seeing Dane Chisholm, Elijah Taylor and Tyla Hepi in a blue and white V shirt.👍

When you read the press release it says he’s second row / centre who can also cover wing. At 6’5” and a big lad I'd say he’ll be playing 2nd row more than the backs.

Very diverse, especially being a forward to playing in the backs and as a winger?

  12. Without trying to sound controversial, a lot of Championship clubs have or are recruiting seasoned SL players. We look to be only recruiting a majority local players who just managed to avoid relegation at the end of the season.

With Toulouse and now Wakefield being in the championship, I hope we as a club look further afield to strengthen the squad.
