  1. I'd love to see what he does in a working week to justify such a large salary.
  2. The saddest thing is Vic, most people won't even be surprised. In all the time i've watched RL the publicity dept (if there is one) have missed countless opportunities to push forward our sport and it's top stars.
  3. I think the general standard in SL has gone down but games involving the top 4 or 5 teams have been very exciting. The move to include 8 teams in the play-offs was IMO an attempt to give teams lower down the league something to play for, seeing as they weren't playing for their survival. I don't think it's worked. The new system was installed to allow teams to develop their own talent and make us more competetive with the Aussies, with a couple of notable exceptions i don't think this is happening. I do think most SL games are very one dimensional. 5 drives and a kick.
  4. And there's the first prize for sanctimonious, self important drivel. The thread was started with a genuine request for help and you chose to inject your "humour" and reduce it to the tripe that most of the threads on this forum become. Then you have the nerve to lecture the person because they didn't like it. Priceless. To round it off you use a cheap trick like picking on them for poor grammar. Must be great to be perfect and "funny"!!!! I look forward to your grammatically correct hysterical reposte. Then again you could just be FUNNY.
  5. And thats the problem, as Old rover points out, matches between teams who essentially have nothing to play for are pretty rubbish. But the games between the big boys are excellent. The Wigan Saints game the other week was superb. A bit one dimensional for my taste but action packed. Bring back P+R now or there will be more matches every year like the Cas Wakey rubbish.
  6. Can't see the problem. As i understand it the 22nd of Aug was always the last day of the season. Thought it was Barrow n Widnes who wanted an extension.
  7. And the Arthur Askey wannabees of the forum hijack another perfectly good topic and one of them is a sodding moderator.
  8. I hope ya right mate. They got in with false promises, stabbed the championship clubs in the back, and continue to do so. IMO the RL have decided that Widnes will go up and either Cas or Wakey will come down, too many clubs in West Yorkshireis one of the factors, as is their non progress on a new ground. Salford will be saved by their geographical position, what's the betting when they get in their new ground we see a re-brand of the club. If any RL bosses read this, "Relegate Wakefield" pleeeeeaaaaase.
  9. I agree that FEV should request the fixture be played on a Sunday and state their case for why but as for making a stand and insisting on sunday, that's a non starter. The RL and Sky will just point them to a legally binding contract. My main point is don't blame the club if it's changed, nowt they can do.
  10. Why would it be the clubs who are letting the fans down. With the current tv deal it's sky who make the choices and the clubs can do nowt about it. If you have a problem with the game being televised it's Murdoch you need to take it out on, NOT the clubs.
  11. Every time this subject comes up i say a little prayer "please let it be Wakefield". I well remember when they went into SL, the championship clubs gave them god knows how many hundred thousand pounds because they were not due any SL money. The first thing they did was vote against P+R. They have also conned the whole of RL with their blatherings about their "new ground". It's about time the RL heirarchy said enough is enough and KICKED them out. Widnes are nailed on to go up and bl00dy good riddance to them.
  12. Just one of the many reasons why i have no interest in football Robin. I remember a game between FEV and Bramley that was possibly the worst game i've ever seen and it was still better than any football match i've ever watched. As for Jamie, it just confirms what i already knew. A very determined and tough young man.
  13. The Leigh fans seem to be pessimistic about this one. If DP can get the sort of reaction from the players that he normally gets for big games then i think we'll win but it's gonna be close. Having Saxton missing is a big loss for us. His go forward is the best in the team. FEV 20 - Leigh 12 MoM - Finn Att - 1790 If i'm right the fat lady better start exercising the old vocal chords.
  14. Correct my friend. What's the number matter when it's the man in it that counts.
  15. Sorry mate but i can't agree, i'm glad to see the back of some of the dumps we used to visit. Fans deserve a better class of stadium. Gone are the days where the "facilities" were a wall to pee up against, and open to the elements. Grounds that were dilapidated and in some cases dangerous. I'm not saying we should all be playing in brand new all seater stadiums but we shouldn't have to put up with some of the holes we have had to previously. The product on the pitch has nothing to do with the ground, it's to do with competition and striving to be better. With the abolition of P+R competition has been removed for more than half of SL and almost entirely for our division. It's noticable that the standard of RL in SL has declined since licensing was introduced. They have even extended the play-offs to eight teams to try and give them something to play for to the end of the season. In truth the bottom 5 or 6 clubs in SL are only playing a series of friendlies but as they can't be relegated the standard they produce is poor. Also this is the reason why some FEV fans i know don't come to games anymore, they feel we are just playing 20 odd friendlies a year because the chance of promotion has been taken away. I honestly believe that RL at championship level is dying and i hope to god that someone does something before it's too late.
  16. The score was 38- 26 to FEV. (i think). 20-0 up and coasting then went to sleep and ended up making hard work of it. Hope the 1st team don't make the same mistake.
  17. Think if we beat Keighley and Leigh turn Barrow over this weekend then the fat lady will be warming up her vocal chords. Not done and dusted, but as good as.
  18. Would like to see Whitehaven and Keighley relegated. Nowt against them but If Hunslet come up as champions and York come up through the play-offs it two shorter trips, and i'm all for that. Selfish - hell yes.
  19. How is the heartlands suffering. They have been rubbish all season and are gonna get relegated.
  20. Bang on Robin, couldn't give a hoot what other fans think, say or believe about us. It's all about what we do and what we believe. Sportbilly - no it's not interesting to see how other clubs see us when what they see is mostly utter rubbish.
  21. And i bet you just love it. Another chance for one of your negative posts. Doomed, we are all doomed. Relegation my @rse.
  22. That's the guy. I know Stuart very well, he's as mad as a hatter. Took that flag everywhere. Went to all the challenge cup finals with it. And yes even France. Haven't seen him this season, would you believe he teaches for a living. Top guy.
