Barrow were well under par today - a shadow of the team that beat Cas. Due to the injury list the squad pretty much picks itself at the moment, but unfortunately we picked up at least 1 other season ending injury There'll be a few new faces in the squad soon and as last season proved, it's not how you start it's how you finsih tha matters

A good attendance with no away following. However, you have to remember the 'Sky effect'. For most clubs in the Championship, for this season and last, their biggest crowds of the season are for the televised games. I believe that each televised match gets 200 family tickets to give away (sponsored by the Co-op). That equates to 800 fans. It was certainly the case last season at Barrow, where we had 4 live Sky matches and the lowest crowd was just over 2,400 (vs Toulouse). I reckon in Barrow, a Sky match adds 400-500 fans.

In the above, if you replace 'Sheffield' for 'Barrow', '1999 for '1875' and '11 years' for '135 years' you pretty much sum up Barrow Raiders today. If we paid totally silly money for players we'd have a squad capable of holding its' own in Super League. We have a squad of ex/fringe SL players and the rest either locals or just good Championship quality players.

Firstly, it has now stopped raining and the surface Craven Park will be perfect. Secondly, the club is owned by Debenture holders (similar to shareholders). Just a question to 'Eagleraider'. Where are Sheffield getting their cash from to bring over their overseas contingent and sustain them ??? It's certainly not on crowds of 900. This is not a dig at Sheffield, just making a point that ALL RL clubs have investors/sponsors and very few make a profit (which Barrow did in 2009 and 2010 by the way).

We played Keighley at home last Wednesday (10th March) in a rearranged NR Cup game. Barrow 62 - 18 Keighley In the Widnes game, we were ahead all the game until the 79th minute. Even many Widnes fans commented that we were the better team that day. Having said that, Featherstone are looking really good this year and Saturday's game will certainly be the toughest home game of the season to-date by far.

Shocking news, but not totally unexpected. With attendances falling fast in the Championship leagues, the future of the sport in 'traditional' heartlands is in serious threat. A vote of 'NO CONFIDENCE' in the RFL is what's required. With the current plebs in charge, the sports going under.

BTW, Hendo was the best player on the field when Gateshead beat us at Craven Park - a game that would have clinched us the league had we won.
