One of the leading architects of the Northern Irish peace process, John Hume. A genuine colossus of a politician.

It was Lounge Room Lizard but I think he was on even before that under a different name? Possibly RLDeutchsland or similar.
Either way, a sad loss. The last time I chatted with him, he seemed fairly optimistic but knew ultimately he was living on borrowed time. A brave guy. RIP
Thank you for supplying the name. Indeed a sad loss. RIP

Very sad to report one of our own....
I can't for the life of me remember his TRL handle right now, sorry.

That said.... what a track....
Isn't it? I still get goose bumps whenever I play it even after all these (42!) years.

No peace for the wicked angels tell me...
Wasn't Another girl.... another planet by The Only Ones? But yes, absolutely one of the best ever guitar intros of all time.

They weren't even middle aged. They were old....Dave was 71..... and they still rocked... and as you say.... proper rocked. They weren't blowing out their botty half was through the set.
It's not the band that I was talking about, it was myself and my fellow audience members! JJB us pushing 70 but still looks like he could manage 80 minutes of rugby league.

Saw them only a couple of years ago. They were a still a fine live band and a great reminder of what an outstanding back catalogue they have.
Really sad to hear he's gone.
So did I. They've still got it. Which is probably more than you can say about hundreds of bald, fat, middle aged blokes who still think they can pogo through an entire set but are wheezing and gasping for air before the first song is half way through!

Dave Greenfield from the stranglers.
Another one from my youth gone.
Woke this morning to the news. Not often that I'm affected by the passing of "famous" people not having actually met them, but this one has got to me. I was a big fan and The Stranglers really did provided the soundtrack to my youth. Dave's keyboard playing was the heart of The Stranglers sound. Truly gutted.

For best use of YouTube, either create an account or log in with your Google account, if you have one. If you haven't already, that is - so many people I know use YouTube a lot without an account and it is far more convenient to have one.
Thanks for the advice, but I already do that. I have a wide selection of subscriptions and could already spend more time on there than is probably healthy! Having Smart TV along with the facility to cast to it from PC or mobile phone probably doesn't help.

Now you've got the connection to the TV, your next step should be to subscribe to this account: https://www.youtube.com/user/shaun123387
I don't know who this Shaun is, but he uploads tons of RL stuff.
Thanks for that. Just had a quick look, there's some cracking games on there. Long may this lockdown continue while I get through them all!

One of those famous people for who you feel a genuine sense of loss at their passing. My heart just sank when I just saw this on Twitter.

the bbc are putting some right dross on box sets comedy wise to cheer us all up-French and bleeding saunders!!!!- total tripe most of it apart from the league of gentlemen and inside no9- wheres Steptoe? blackadder? or one foot?
They have just shown The Titfield Thunderbolt, The Lavender Hill Mob and The Lady Killers three afternoons in succession. Comedy doesn't come much better than that.
Away from comedy they are showing the entire run of Spooks on iPlayer

Ron Girvin, another or our own. For a long time he was a major figure in the organisation of amature rugby leage in the north west.

One of our own: Pilkington Recs legend "Jethro" Geoff Philips
I was fortunate enough to play under his stewardship of the Pilks 'A' team in the 1980s. A true rugby league character; very well know and well loved in the rugby league community of the north west. RIP big fella.

He was on TV last year talking about his impending death. Wasn’t afraid of dying and talked with good humour about his life and times. Top bloke.
The one with Mary Beard? If so it's on BBC2 now.

Gary Rhodes 59
59 is no age, only a couple of years older than me!
He was the first TV chef to really catch my eye. I loved the fact that he championed British cuisine. I have a couple of his books, they are really very good; far better than some of his rivals.

When I was in my teens I often traveled by steam roller, crewing on it taking it to and from shows. It would take two days to cover around 50 miles.
