  1. Quite. Some people seem to live in constant fear of being caught enjoying the "wrong" bands/records. Especially a band they used to like, but which has since been deemed as having "sold out" which is what happens when they write some songs that people actually want to buy.
  2. I'm sure a lot of the people who bought those albums subsequently denied ever having done so, during the years when ELO were considered terminally naff by the self-appointed arbiters of musical fashion. I'm sure a lot of those people were in Hyde Park the other night, absolutely loving it.
  3. He and his band do seem to be finally gaining some re-acceptance from the public, which is overdue, because they have some great songs.
  4. Just tried a bottle of Iron Maiden 'Trooper' ESB. Not bad, actually.
  5. Manchester United extend winning streak to 1.
  6. A good night in for those who like their guitars LOUD! http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcfour/programmes/schedules/2014/09/12
  7. Guitar hero time! Leslie West at 'Night of the Guitars', dedicating a Jack Bruce song to Felix Pappalardi, bassist and occasional vocalist for Mountain.
  8. Just finished watching this. A glorious shambles, presented by Alex Karras (Mongo from 'Blazing Saddles') and including footage of Joan Jett in short shorts.
  9. Is Ribery's court case for that underage prostitute business still ongoing? He could end up missing more than three games, Shame about Platini. Great player turned hopeless administrator.
  10. The Rock'n'Roll Sports Classic - an ABC special from 1978 pitting musicians against each other in athletic events, including the Jacksons (with Michael), Rod Stewart, Earth Wind & Fire, ELO, The Commodores, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Leif Garrett, the Runaways, Boston, Kenny Loggins, Seals & Crofts, Tanya Tucker... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8ZjwBcN5IA
  11. Sepp Blatter will stand for re-election after all. What a surprise!
  12. Just switched over and watched the second half of 'Doctor Who' for the first time in quite a whilw. Nice to see a good fun adventure instead of the usual "ooh, is the Doctor good really and who is he really and what is the meaning of everything really and that" navelgazing. Swashes buckled, thighs slapped and, almost certainly, mead quaffed.
  13. Here's a free'n'legal slice of upbeat Zimbabwean goodness to download and enjoy: John Chibadura & the Tembo Brothers.
  14. ...but she operates at something of a stylistic tangent to Todd, you must admit.
  15. Well, that was interesting! But enough about 'Great British Bake Off', I am now watching England v Norway and it is thin gruel indeed. Now switching to BBC4.
  16. Just pre-ordered this - Todd Rundgren at the BBC - but am slightly disturbed by the "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought" section.
  17. The locals must be glad both countries signed up to the Schengen Agreement.
  18. The town of Baarle - is it Dutch or Belgian? This map should help...
  19. Tonight on Dave, from 7pm, the complete series of 'Blackadder goes forth'. Just thought you'd like to know.
  20. Before Jeffrey Ross Hyman became Joey Ramone, he briefly took the name Jeff Starship (while lead singer for Sniper).
  21. Just bought a bag of cobnuts, which I haven't had in about 20-30 years. Naturally, the nutcrackers, which I remember seeing in the kitchen only the other day, have vanished into thin air. As they always do...
  22. Just finished the book (Lutz Pfannenstiel - The Unstoppable Keeper). I've never read a football autobiography or biography before, and I suspect that any I read after this would be a huge let-down. Very funny, occasionally harrowing, always interesting. Recommended.
